(Fatherland) - On the evening of November 16, the opening ceremony of the 1st Red Brick and Ceramic Festival - Green Economy of Vinh Long province in 2024 took place solemnly at Kinh Thay Cai brick and ceramic village (Mang Thit district, Vinh Long province).
Attending the opening ceremony were comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister; comrade Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh - former member of the Party Central Committee, former Acting President; comrade Ho An Phong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism and leaders of central ministries and branches.
On the side of Vinh Long province, there were comrade Bui Van Nghiem - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrade Nguyen Thanh The - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; comrade Lu Quang Ngoi - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; together with comrades leading provincial departments, branches, local leaders; former provincial leaders of different periods, along with a large number of people and tourists inside and outside the province attending.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 1st Red Brick and Ceramic Festival - Green Economy of Vinh Long Province in 2024, Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee Bui Van Nghiem said that with the desire to turn the local traditional craft village into an attractive tourist destination, Vinh Long province has coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union to organize the 1st Red Brick and Ceramic Festival - Green Economy of Vinh Long Province in 2024 on a regional scale in the Mekong Delta with the participation of Ho Chi Minh City and a number of provinces and cities in the Central and Northern regions.
The Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee emphasized that this event, in addition to continuing to honor the spirit of hard work, creativity and skillful hands of generations of Vinh Long people for over 100 years, is also the passion of the next generation who wants to preserve a traditional craft village that only exists in this land. And above all, this is the crystallization of the wish that the "Kingdom of red bricks and ceramics" will become an attractive tourist destination, so that the mossy, ancient brick kilns will bring Vinh Long culture to all parts of the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc assessed that in the current context, when climate change and environmental pollution are becoming global challenges, sustainable economic development and building a green economy are extremely necessary. Therefore, the Red Brick and Ceramic Festival - Green Economy in Vinh Long has great significance and is a pioneering step, demonstrating the long-term vision and innovation of the locality.
This event not only promotes the development of traditional industries, but also honors the traditional, historical, cultural, artistic and unique cultural values of the heroic land of Vinh Long, determined to transform, harmoniously combining economic development and environmental protection of the Mekong Delta and the whole country.
"I hope that in the coming time, the red brick and ceramic industry will develop to a new height, the products will be diverse, rich, sophisticated, beautiful in design, better in quality and will reach out to the world. The red brick kilns will become brilliant castles, sparkling under the sunlight. This place not only creates rare and valuable products, bearing the identity of the Mekong Delta, which is a cultural characteristic of our region, but also an attractive destination for tourists from all over the world to the Mekong Delta" - said the Deputy Prime Minister.
At the opening ceremony, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province announced the Master Plan for the construction of the Mang Thit district brick and pottery kiln area, Vinh Long province until 2045. The plan aims to realize the policy of building a place to preserve and develop the "Kingdom of brick and pottery kilns" with a history of hundreds of years.
On this occasion, Vinh Long also awarded the competition for planning ideas and architectural plans for the Mekong Delta Agricultural Museum - The competition aims to select ideas to complete the project to build an agricultural museum in the Mekong Delta in Vinh Long province.
In addition to the impressive opening night, people can also visit the fair, exhibition of industry, trade, agriculture, tourism with a scale of 700-800 booths.
