Accordingly, Tokyo is the most popular destination for Vietnamese tourists, while the Lunar New Year 2023 is Bangkok. The remaining 9 international destinations in the top 10 include: Bangkok, Sydney (Australia), Osaka (Japan), Seoul (Korea), Taiwan, Melbourne (Australia), Hong Kong, Kyoto (Japan), Singapore.
Vietnamese tourists increasingly favor Japan as a destination. The Japan National Tourism Organization in Vietnam (JNTO) said that the number of Vietnamese tourists to Japan in 2023 has exceeded that of 2019 - the time before the pandemic.
Specifically, the number of Vietnamese visitors to Japan in 2023 reached a record high of nearly 574,000, an increase of 15.9% compared to 2019 (495,000). Currently, Vietnamese visitors are in the top 10 largest tourist markets in Japan.
In contrast, Japanese visitors to Vietnam declined sharply after the pandemic, reaching only about 590,000 arrivals, about 50% compared to 2019.

According to the survey, tourists are looking for cooler weather to escape the heat, with 82% of respondents saying they are interested in a water-based vacation this year.
