On March 21, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Ha, Chief of Office of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, said that Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan has signed a decision approving the Project on collection, payment, management and use of fees for visiting Nha Trang Bay scenic spots. Accordingly, the Department of Finance will draft a Submission and Resolution to advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council for promulgation and implementation.

According to the project, it is expected that the fee will be uniformly collected for domestic and international tourists visiting and traveling to the sea and islands in Nha Trang Bay (from Ke Ga Cape to Cu Hin Cape, except for strictly protected areas) by inland waterway vehicles.

The fee collection is carried out directly by the Nha Trang Bay Management Board or coordinated at licensed inland ports and wharves. Ticket prices range from 6,000 VND - 10,000 VND/person/trip for each individual island route; 40,000 VND/person/trip for the entire route.

The fee can be adjusted to suit the actual situation. At the same time, free tickets are available for children under 6 years old; people with disabilities; local people; employees working at tourist attractions on the island and civil servants on business trips. 50% discount on tickets for people under 16 years old and policy beneficiaries.

Khanh Hoa Province plans to collect entrance fees to create a stable financial source for management and conservation activities of Nha Trang Bay. It is estimated to bring in VND26.4 billion per year for the locality, of which 80% of the total amount is for the unit's operations, the rest is paid to the state budget.

Nha Trang Bay is one of 16 national marine reserves and also the first marine reserve in Vietnam. The bay is 249.65 km2 wide, with 19 large and small islands and a beautiful and diverse marine and coral ecosystem. In recent times, the bay environment, especially the coral reefs in the Hon Mun sea area, has shown signs of degradation, while the locality has not yet ensured sustainable financial resources for management activities./.
