At the premiere of the movie Soul Eater on the afternoon of December 14, director Tran Huu Tan said that this work had gone through censorship three times before it could be officially released in theaters.

The director shared that the work sent to the audience had been adjusted in some places. However, he emphasized that after editing, the film's flow was not significantly affected.
"The movie has some adjustments related to the horror element, a little bit about the puppet image and a little bit about other elements.
Thao Trang's upcoming novel The Soul Eater is very large, with many character lines and journeys. When making the film, producer Hoang Quan and I decided to choose only one main line, which is the journey of Ms. Phong (played by Hoang Ha - PV) so that the audience can focus more", said director Tran Huu Tan.
The director also said that 105 minutes of film certainly cannot convey the content of a book of several hundred pages. In addition, he said that although the editing points were not in the original script, when reviewing, he found the film better, easier to understand, and the audience could follow more smoothly.

Previously, Soul Eater was scheduled to be released on December 8, then the release date was postponed. On the afternoon of December 14, this work began to be released in theaters and the film will officially premiere on December 15. The film is labeled 18+ (for audiences 18 years and older).
After the first screenings, this work received some positive feedback in terms of content and message. However, the film's dubbing caused some discussion among the audience, because there was no consistency.
Explaining why in the same village, some people speak Northern dialect and some speak Southern dialect, director Tran Huu Tan said: "In the original, Hell village is a village with people from both the South and the North, so there will be people who speak Northern dialect and people who speak Southern dialect."

Regarding the fact that only a few actors were voiced, the male director said that because the crew had taken into account the audience's opinions, they dubbed one character to have a consistent voice for all family members.
"I also asked the actor's permission to dub the film to make it more complete," said Tran Huu Tan.
Soul Eater is a horror film adapted from the upcoming work of the same name by author Thao Trang. Thao Trang is also the author of Tet in Hell Village - a series of films that has received the attention of audiences recently.
