Striker Harry Kane has agreed to move to Bayern Munich, after the German team reached an agreement to buy him from Tottenham for $110 million.

According to The Athletic, Kane has already agreed to join Bayern and is only waiting for Tottenham to allow him to go to Germany for a medical and complete the transfer. The England captain has agreed to personal terms in a four-year contract proposed by Bayern. Kane's salary is expected to be around $525,000 per week, more than double what he earns at Tottenham.

Yesterday, August 10, Tottenham agreed to a $110 million offer from Bayern. After the two sides agreed on the transfer fee, British media reported that Kane wanted to stay, because he was satisfied with new coach Ange Postecoglou. However, just a few hours later, the 30-year-old striker changed his mind and chose to go to Bayern.

Kane is under contract until June 2024, and selling him to Bayern would help Tottenham avoid losing him for nothing next year when he can leave as a free agent. Bayern would also achieve their goal of finding a worthy replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who left the club last summer. The fee they paid for Kane would also be a Bundesliga transfer record.

Kane made the decision early because he wanted to secure his future ahead of the new season. Tottenham will play their opening Premier League match against Brentford in two days. After Kane scored four goals in a 5-1 friendly win over Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this week, coach Postecoglou spoke to him privately, asking Kane to decide whether to stay or leave before the first round of the Premier League.

Kane is Tottenham's all-time leading goalscorer, with 280 goals in 435 games. In the Premier League alone, Kane has scored 213 goals in 320 games. He needs 48 more goals to break Alan Shearer's record for the most goals in the competition's history. Kane also holds the England international goalscoring record with 58 goals.

Kane scored 30 goals in the Premier League last season, but Tottenham finished eighth and missed out on European football this season. The team has not won a trophy since 2008. This is one of the reasons why Kane wants to leave, as he has not won a team title. His best achievements are reaching the 2015 and 2021 League Cup finals, the 2019 Champions League final with Tottenham and the 2021 Euro final with England.
