I was lucky to be born in the homeland of my ancestors, my family has a tradition of practicing xoan singing for 5 generations, including 3 generations as guild leaders. To date, I am the only female guild leader among the 4 ancient xoan guilds of Phu Tho. Our xoan guild has 117 members, the youngest is only 4 years old and the oldest is 94.

We are always proud to contribute our efforts to preserve and conserve the unique folk art heritage of Xoan singing. The heritage contains many cultural values of the ancient Vietnamese people associated with the worship of Hung Kings of Phu Tho homeland, which has been recognized by UNESCO.
Coming to Ha Tinh to participate in the exchange and performance activities at the Vi and Giam folk song festival at the end of 2024, we felt very excited. From Vi and Giam folk songs, I learned more about the cultural heritage of Ha Tinh. What is special, now I know, Ha Tinh is the land of origin of the Hung King culture later. Legend has it that Kinh Duong Vuong once established the capital on Hong Linh mountain, then moved to Phu Tho and gave birth to the Hung Kings as we know today.
In Ha Tinh, there is also a Hung King Temple on Hong Linh Mountain and the traditional Hung King Commemoration Festival is held every spring. This shows that the homeland of Ha Tinh and the ancestral land of Phu Tho have a connection in cultural tradition, sharing the same worship of Hung King for thousands of years of history.

I feel the cultural closeness between the two homelands, especially the exchange between the two heritages of xoan singing and vi, giam folk songs. That is the simplicity and sincerity in the lyrics and the performance space of xoan singing and vi, giam singing every early spring.

For a long time, Bac Ninh and Ha Tinh have been two homelands with a close bond. The festival “Returning to the Vi and Giam region - Connecting the quintessence of heritage” held in Ha Tinh recently was not the first time we brought Quan Ho to the Vi and Giam homeland. In many important events in Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh troupes also brought the Vi and sweet Ho melodies of the Hong mountain - La river to perform in Kinh Bac land.

Performing Quan Ho and researching Vi and Giam, I love the heritage left by my ancestors even more. I see the similarities between Vi and Giam and Quan Ho in the performance space, especially in the way of expressing human emotions, the way of singing love songs between men and women. Through Quan Ho and Vi and Giam songs, it shows that both heritages are ways to convey the sincere, simple but also full of subtle metaphors of people in each countryside. Vi and Giam and Quan Ho, although having different melodies, blend together by the lyrical harmony of the soul, love for homeland, country, couples, sincerity, simplicity, loyalty, steadfastness and passion.

In 2017, after being recognized by UNESCO, Bai Choi singing has been preserved and promoted in daily life by the authorities at all levels and localities, along with the people of Quang Nam. In particular, we have turned the heritage of Bai Choi singing into a tourism product to serve tourists. Thereby, not only bringing many economic values, but also contributing to introducing and promoting the cultural heritage of the homeland to domestic and international friends.

In Hoi An, every day, the heritage of Bài Chòi resounds in the ancient town, attracting dozens of domestic and foreign tourists to enjoy. Many tourists share that coming to Quang Nam, coming to the ancient town of Hoi An without immersing themselves in the Bài Chòi singing game is not enough. That is what motivates us to make more efforts in preserving our homeland's heritage.

When I came to Ha Tinh, I witnessed the performances and learned about Vi and Giam folk songs, and I really loved this type of heritage. I think Ha Tinh has many famous historical and cultural sites and landscapes such as Nguyen Du relic site, Hai Thuong Lan Ong, Dong Loc crossroads, Huong Tich pagoda... If there were a space to perform Vi and Giam folk songs, it would attract tourists.
With its attractive and unique performance form, Ha Tinh needs to turn Vi and Giam folk songs into a tourism product like what Quang Nam has done with Bai Choi singing. Thereby, Ha Tinh will have another unique and attractive tourism product that other places do not have; at the same time, it will help the UNESCO-recognized heritage spread further to friends near and far.
