Thap Muoi district has 78 unused public land plots.

DTO - On March 19, the Standing Delegation of the People's Council of Dong Thap province led by Mr. Kieu The Lam - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council came to survey the work of preventing and combating waste in state management of public investment plans, public assets, land, as well as the operation of cultural and sports institutions in Thap Muoi district.

Mr. Kieu The Lam - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council spoke at the working session with the People's Committee of Thap Muoi district.

According to the report of the People's Committee of Thap Muoi district, the works and projects under the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021 - 2025 were all approved in accordance with the correct procedures from the survey and design stages to the approval of the total estimate and the project estimate in accordance with the norms and standard construction unit prices. The works and projects were allocated capital in a timely manner, ensuring construction progress, no extension of implementation time, no increase in capital and no cases of capital estimates being canceled by the Central, the province or the district.

Through review, the district recorded 28 offices and public service facilities that are no longer in use. These facilities are assigned to the District Project Management and Land Fund Development Board for management and exploitation. In addition, the district has 78 public land plots with a total area of over 909,397m² that have not been granted Land Use Right Certificates.

Regarding private investment projects that have been allocated land or leased land but have stopped operating, have been slow to put land into use, or have been used improperly, the District People's Committee has coordinated with provincial-level professional agencies to advise the Provincial People's Committee to revoke land use rights for a number of companies.

At the meeting, Mr. Kieu The Lam suggested that the District People's Committee should find solutions to remove difficulties related to the encroachment of public land. The District needs to invest in human resources to solve difficulties arising in the area, at the same time correctly assess the current situation, promote responsibility in preventing and combating waste of public investment and public assets. The use of public investment capital must be effective, avoiding loss of state budget; at the same time, strengthen inspection, examination and handling of cases of waste.
