On March 21, coach Brad Maloney announced the list of 23 Australian U17 players preparing for the 2025 AFC U17 Finals taking place in Saudi Arabia from April 3 to April 20, 2025.
In this training session, coach Brad Maloney has called up the best players who are in good form. Notably, the list includes two players who are playing in Europe: Max Anastasio (Venezia FC) and Alexander Garbowski (BK Häcken).
Speaking to the media, coach Brad Maloney said: “We have prepared thoroughly for this tournament. I feel the team is in a very good position before entering the pre-tournament training session.
I have been really impressed with all the players. They have always tried their best to implement the tactics as well as maintain the standards of living off the pitch. Thanks to that, we have built a strong team culture, which has contributed significantly to our recent successes.”
The 2025 AFC U17 Championship will be held from April 3 to 20, 2025 in Saudi Arabia. The 16 participating teams will be divided into 4 groups of 4 teams each, with the top 2 teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals. Notably, the 8 teams that advance from the group stage of this tournament will qualify for the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
U17 Australia is in the same group with U17 Vietnam, U17 Japan and U17 UAE. In the opening match, U17 Australia will face U17 Vietnam, the match will take place at 10pm on April 4, Vietnam time.
