State Bank Governor works with Vinh Long province

On the afternoon of March 20, Governor of the State Bank - Nguyen Thi Hong led a delegation of Government representatives to work with the People's Committee of Vinh Long province on promoting production and business, disbursing public investment capital, 3 national target programs, striving to achieve and exceed the growth target in 2025.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Dang Van Chinh informed that, implementing the conclusions of the Central Committee, resolutions of the National Assembly and the Government on economic growth, specifically implementing Resolution No. 25/NQ-CP of the Government on growth targets of sectors, fields and localities to ensure the national growth target in 2025 reaches 8% or more, Vinh Long province has focused on building scenarios and solutions to achieve the growth target in 2025 at 8-8.5%.

In the first quarter, the socio-economic situation in the province achieved some good results: the tasks of restructuring agriculture continued to be implemented towards improving quality; proactively implementing measures for agricultural production activities; the industrial production index (IIP) increased by 15% over the same period; total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached 20,080 billion VND, up 24% over the same period; total export turnover reached 285 million USD, up 17% over the same period. Meanwhile, the total public investment capital managed by the locality in 2025 is about 6,800 billion VND; estimated implementation and disbursement by March 15 was more than 414 billion VND, reaching 6.09% of the plan.

Currently, the province has a social housing project in Binh Minh Industrial Park (CC1, CC3 Area) with 373 apartments; many localities have proactively mobilized resources to support people who are eligible for support to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses to build and repair houses to ensure progress; the work of supporting housing improvement for poor households, near-poor households, households under the national target program for ethnic minorities, people with revolutionary contributions and relatives of martyrs in the province has been focused on implementation.

In addition, the Provincial People's Committee issued Plan No. 16/KH-UBND dated February 28, 2025 to implement Resolution No. 03/NQ-CP and the Provincial Party Committee's Action Program to make breakthroughs in science, technology development, innovation and national digital transformation.

At the meeting, the Provincial People's Committee reported on difficulties and problems in issues such as land, investment, social housing development, public investment capital plans, etc. Particularly for the investment project to build the My Thuan - Can Tho expressway phase 1 through the province, the Provincial People's Committee proposed the Ministry of Construction to reclaim core land at intersections; urgently provide additional funds for compensation and site clearance.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong highly appreciated the achievements of the province in 2024 and the first months of 2025. Meanwhile, the difficulties and problems of the province in previous meetings were also recorded and resolved. Particularly at the meeting, there were new recommendations and they were also recorded, answered and solutions will be found by representatives of central ministries and branches.

The Governor of the State Bank also highly agreed on the solutions and growth scenarios of the province in 2025. However, to achieve the growth target in 2025 and the following years, the province needs to focus on maximizing the exploitation of existing growth drivers and renewing new growth drivers; focusing on exploiting large and potential export markets...
