Within the framework of the regular November press conference of the Ministry of Information and Communications, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province coordinated with the Lao Embassy in Vietnam and the Ministry of Information and Communications to organize a press conference on the program "Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023". The program will take place from November 11 to 15, 2023 in Thua Thien Hue, including a series of meaningful events, demonstrating the strong friendship between the people of Vietnam and Laos.
Speaking at the press conference chaired by Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Lam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Information and Communications; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province and Mr. O Lam Chawnthavilay, Second Secretary in charge of press information, Lao Embassy in Vietnam co-chaired.
2023 marks the 61st anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Laos diplomatic relations (1962 - 2023), the 46th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the two countries (1977 - 2023). In the current renovation process of each country, both Vietnam and Laos have achieved great achievements of historical significance in economy, society, and foreign affairs, helping the close cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Laos to become increasingly stronger and expand in many fields.
The 2023 Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival takes place with a series of activities including: Photo Exhibition, Fair - Exhibition, Scientific Seminar and Vietnam - Laos Art Exchange Night. The photo exhibition with a total of 200 photos is divided into 4 themes: 61 years of history of Vietnam - Laos special friendship; Vietnam and Laos on the path of development; Outstanding achievements in Vietnam - Laos cooperation in the field of information and communication; Thua Thien Hue accompanying the country's development. The Fair - Exhibition with more than 50 booths is organized with the highlight being the booths of Vietnam News Agency, Nhan Dan Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam Radio... with information publications and communication programs in Lao language.
In addition, there is also the participation of information technology and telecommunications enterprises such as Viettel, VNPT, VTC; enterprises operating in the fields of tourism, trade... with typical OCOP products of Hue and the provinces and cities in the Central region. The scientific seminar with the theme "Prospects of Vietnam - Laos press and media cooperation: Challenges and solutions" is an opportunity for speakers from both countries to discuss journalism, digital transformation trends in press and media as well as the role of information and propaganda in promoting trade and increasing investment between the two countries.
The Vietnam - Laos Special Friendship Festival 2023 was held in Thua Thien Hue province, thereby affirming the important geographical position of the province on the East - West corridor connecting Thailand - Laos - Vietnam along Highway 9.
