According to Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, out of more than one million candidates taking the graduation exam, 660,000 students registered for university admission this year, 99.3% of whom were eligible to pass the first round of admission.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy commented that through the number of candidates registering for admission this year, it can be seen that the demand for university education among the people is still high. In addition, Ms. Thuy said that the virtual filtering process of the Ministry of Education and Training is effective, candidates avoid mistakes such as registering for the wrong method or admission combination, ensuring maximum benefits.

Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy reported at the conference on the afternoon of August 26.

The number of candidates admitted to their first choice was 49.1%. More than 85% of candidates who registered for admission passed their first five choices. Meanwhile, only more than 30% of candidates who were admitted directly confirmed their enrollment by this method, proving that they have other better options.

For candidates admitted early (based on academic records, academic records combined with international certificates...), only 32.2% put the major and school they admitted early as their first choice. "Thus, 70% of early admission wishes are virtual, candidates do not choose them. This is also a warning for schools to adjust their admission methods for next year," said Ms. Thuy.

The Director of the Department of Higher Education assessed that university admissions have had positive changes. However, schools have too many complicated admission methods and plans, many places have not ensured fairness, and quota allocation is not reasonable, causing difficulties for candidates and the Ministry's admissions system.

Currently, successful candidates are still in the enrollment confirmation period, from August 24 to September 8. Ms. Thuy requested that schools remind and urge candidates to confirm enrollment on time to ensure their rights.

Candidates who do not enroll according to regulations, without a valid reason, are considered not admitted. Last year, out of 567,000 candidates admitted in the first round, more than 100,000 did not enroll.

Schools that have not yet recruited enough students can consider additional enrollment from September 9 to December. Currently, dozens of universities are recruiting more than 10,000 students.
