(Dan Tri) - Duong Ha Anh (born in 2002) is a senior student majoring in Computer Science at Brown University (USA). Ha Anh will join the technology giant Microsoft this summer, after graduating from university.
A few months ago, a former student of Hanoi Amsterdam High School received news that she had been accepted early for a software engineer position at Microsoft even before graduating.

According to Ha Anh, Microsoft's recruitment round has an online test that lasts about 2 hours, related to logic and programming.
At the end of the online test, Ha Anh was interviewed by a leader and two engineers, each for an hour, to test the candidate's knowledge, orientation, and projects, along with some hypothetical situations.
Thanks to her experience and careful preparation, she passed Microsoft's rigorous recruitment rounds even though she had not graduated from college.
"When I received the invitation letter from Microsoft, I was very surprised. It's a big company, the dream of many young people," Ha Anh said.
It is known that in the job offer, in addition to salary, the female student will be sponsored for an H1-B visa (temporary work visa). She will start working here right after graduation.
Sharing with Dan Tri reporter right before Tet, Ha Anh said that she had returned to the US so she could not celebrate Tet with her family.
"This is the fourth year I celebrate Tet abroad. The first year, at the American school dormitory, there were no Vietnamese people so I celebrated Tet with an overseas Vietnamese friend.
At that time, I was sad, hearing my family call made me want to cry. In the second year, there were more Vietnamese people at school, at that time, we planned to celebrate Tet to ease our homesickness.
The 30th night in Vietnam is usually morning in the US, so my friends and I woke up very early to watch Tao Quan. After that, we went to the online market to order items like banh chung, banh tet, sticky rice, jams, candies, sunflower seeds, etc.," Ha Anh said.
Love painting, economics but choose computer science
Before being accepted and receiving a full scholarship to Brown University, a school in the prestigious Ivy League (the top 8 prestigious universities in the US), Ha Anh spent 2 years studying in China thanks to a UWC scholarship (a system of 15 schools around the world).
During her time studying here, Ha Anh thought she would pursue both Economics and Painting, but later gave up because she didn't like it, and suddenly switched to studying Computer Science.
To prepare for this journey, starting from her first year of university, the female student regularly worked as a teaching assistant at school, participating in specialized clubs such as game development, virtual reality...
At the beginning of her first year, Ha Anh focused her time on applying for internships in Vietnam to gain experience.
In her second year, she started sending out internship applications to companies in the US. She sent out over 200 applications but very few responded. Luckily, the only company that responded at that time was also the one that accepted Ha Anh as an intern - the technology transportation service company Uber.
During her 3-month internship at Uber, Ha Anh participated in a project to design a feature related to trip information for customers and drivers. The difference of this task is to help customers call a car faster, thereby saving time and money.
"The first time I worked in an American company in a professional environment, I was overwhelmed, especially the most important thing was teamwork skills," the female student recalled.
During the summer of her third year of college, Ha Anh sent out about 80 applications for internships in the US. This time, Ha Anh focused on applying to large technology companies and was accepted to Apple. Working at this large technology company helped Ha Anh get used to high intensity and teamwork skills.
When she was about to graduate, Ha Anh continued to send out about 200 job applications. At that time, the girl continuously went to interviews with many companies and was lucky to be accepted by Microsoft for the position of Software Engineer.
