"After returning from the war, up to now, although the lives of many members are still difficult, we have always promoted the tradition and pride of the soldiers of Quang Tri Citadel, actively participated in gratitude activities, visits, and comradely affection, becoming shining examples in the locality and neighborhood." That was the statement of veteran Vu Duc Mach, 83 years old, Head of the Quang Tri Citadel Soldiers Association in Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi City at the Association's 2nd Mid-Term Executive Committee Conference.

On June 23, 2015, the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Warriors Traditional Association in Hanoi was officially established by the City People's Committee with the purpose of expressing gratitude, camaraderie, and sharing all joys, sorrows, and difficulties in life.

At the conference, delegates reviewed the results of the association's activities in the past half term. In terms of organization, up to now, it has developed to 15 branches with 1,338 members. Of which, the number of members over 70 years old accounts for over 80%, with 587 members being war invalids, sick soldiers and those infected with Agent Orange/dioxin. Promoting the spirit of Uncle Ho's soldiers, the tradition of steadfastness and bravery of the soldiers of Quang Tri Citadel, the association's cadres and members have always been exemplary in implementing all resolutions, policies and guidelines of the Party, State and local movements.

Regarding charity work, in the past term, the association at all levels organized for more than 500 members to visit the Quang Tri battlefield, offer incense at martyrs' cemeteries, and give gifts to poor children and policy families in the area with an amount of hundreds of millions of VND. In addition, the association at all levels regularly maintained the regime of visiting and encouraging families of martyrs, visiting sick and deceased members, etc.

In particular, in July 2022, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the 81-day battle to protect Quang Tri Citadel (1972-2022) and the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day July 27 (1947-2022), the Association coordinated with the People's Committee of Quang Tri province and all levels and sectors to hold a requiem for the souls of martyrs at the Quang Tri Citadel National Monument and held a flower lantern release ceremony on the Thach Han River. "In addition, on this occasion, the Association also mobilized more than 200 million VND to give gifts to policy families and members in difficult circumstances. For us, showing gratitude to our comrades is a gesture and a sacred command for each member!" - Major General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Giang Van Thanh, Chairman of the Association said.
