(Dan Tri) - The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has submitted a document to the City People's Committee requesting permission to change the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students.

On the afternoon of December 5, Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City informed about the assessment of the actual implementation of the plan of schools in Ho Chi Minh City. The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has submitted a document to the City People's Committee requesting the policy of changing the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday to suit the reality and ensure enough time to implement the school year plan.

A representative of the Department of Education and Training said that the Tet holiday schedule according to the 2024-2025 school year schedule is currently tentative.

By the end of 2024, at the end of the first semester, based on the actual study plan, the Department of Education and Training and schools will have a more specific and realistic time.

According to the school year plan of Ho Chi Minh City, the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday for preschool, primary, secondary and high school students is expected to start from January 25, 2025 to February 2, 2025 (ie December 26 to January 5). With the above schedule, students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a total of 9 days off for the 2025 Lunar New Year.

With this holiday schedule, many opinions say that students in Ho Chi Minh City have too few days off for Tet, causing many inconveniences for students and families in arranging to return to their hometowns. Students have little time to rest and have fun during Tet, and have to travel during peak days when train and bus tickets are expensive...

In previous years, students in Ho Chi Minh City had a Tet holiday lasting 14-16 days.
