Many extremely serious accidents have just occurred consecutively on the two-lane Cam Lo - La Son highway.
According to the Vietnam Road Administration, in recent times, the Departments of Transport have actively directed driving training facilities to organize training to ensure time, content, and programs, and have paid attention to organizing driving training on highways according to regulations.
The contents included in the training include training according to the content and framework program for driver training on all types of roads; training and guidance on the contents and steps to take when driving. driving on the highway and handling situations emergencies occurring on the highway; using simulators for driver training (car driving school cabins) to learn to drive on the highway; recognizing unsafe traffic situations on the highway through software that simulates traffic situations.
However, recently, on expressways, especially expressways with investment phases, there have been traffic accidents with serious and extremely serious consequences. Therefore, the Vietnam Road Administration requests the Department of Transport of provinces and cities to direct driver training facilities to conduct driver training ensuring sufficient time and training program content according to regulations.
Based on the framework program for driver training on all types of roads (including highways) and referring to the curriculum of the subject "Driving Techniques", driving training facilities develop appropriate driving technique curricula, including the content "Driving on highways" demonstrating driving techniques on invested highways, ensuring visuality, consistent with the content and training program, helping students easily absorb, remember and practice all operations and handling when driving on highways to ensure safety.
In addition, local Departments of Transport need to organize training and closely monitor the use of car driving cabins and software simulating traffic situations so that students can recognize, learn enough skills and handle situations when driving on highways.
Recently, there have been a number of serious traffic accidents on some expressways, including expressways with only 2 lanes (1 lane in each direction) and no hard divider, attracting public attention. These are expressways with investment in phases in the context of limited resources but in reality, it is necessary to quickly ensure connectivity to serve transportation needs and socio-economic development.
However, the investment in 2-lane expressways when put into operation has revealed many shortcomings. Therefore, the Prime Minister recently requested the Ministry of Transport to coordinate with localities to upgrade the 2-lane expressways to reach the scale of a complete expressway, including early investment in 2-lane expressways.
