Suggested locations to watch the April 30 parade in Ho Chi Minh City

The parade started at the intersection of Le Duan - Nguyen Binh Khiem and proceeded to the Independence Palace, then passed through 4 streets in District 1, convenient for tourists to observe from many directions.

The 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) will take place on April 30 in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The parade will begin at 6:30 a.m., with the groups departing from the intersection of Le Duan - Nguyen Binh Khiem to the Reunification Hall, then dividing into 4 directions to the assembly points.

Residents and visitors can choose observation locations on many central streets of District 1. Below is a detailed itinerary, suggested observation locations for the parade and some notes when participating in the April 30th celebration.

The parade started from Nguyen Binh Khiem intersection and entered Le Duan Street towards the Independence Palace. After passing the stage, the group split into four directions.

4 directions of movement of the parade on April 30.

Direction 1: Pass Thong Nhat Hall - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street - Le Loi - Nguyen Thi Nghia - Phu Dong Thien Vuong 6-way intersection - Cach Mang Thang Tam, stop at Tao Dan Park.

1. Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Le Loi intersection

The first suggested location is the Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Le Loi intersection with wide sidewalks, easy to observe the forces. This is the turning point, where the parade passes in a clear formation. This area is close to the center, so it is crowded, visitors should come early to get a good spot.

This location is near Saigon Center, Saigon Square, Takashimaya shopping malls, Sedona Suites hotel located on high floors in Saigon Center building can observe the whole view of Le Loi and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia streets.

2. Nguyen Thi Nghia Street - Phu Dong Thien Vuong Intersection

Phu Dong Thien Vuong 6-way intersection is the intersection of major roads Pham Hong Thai, Nguyen Thi Nghia, Le Thi Rieng, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Nguyen Trai and Ly Tu Trong. These roads are concentrated with many shops, wide roads with open sidewalks for visitors to observe the parade. Visitors can move from Ben Thanh metro station to this location, walk 500m along Pham Ngu Lao - Nguyen Thi Nghia - 6-way intersection.

Located at the corner of Pham Hong Thai and Nguyen Thi Nghia streets, opposite Phu Dong intersection, is Starbucks Coffee New World, on the ground floor of New World Saigon Hotel. The shop opens from 6:30 a.m., and visitors can watch the parade depending on their seating position in the shop.

Public locations at this point have sidewalks on Nguyen Thi Nghia or Cach Mang Thang Tam streets, where the group can be seen heading towards Tao Dan Park.

3. August Revolution - Tao Dan Park

From Cach Mang Thang Tam Street at the Phu Dong 6-way intersection, the forces moved about 600 meters to the assembly point at Tao Dan Park. This area is cool and green with lots of trees, but you can only see the last part of the parade.

Visitors can stand on the sidewalk of Cach Mang Thang Tam Street or the edge of Tao Dan Park to observe the forces.

Direction 2: Le Duan - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Le Thanh Ton - Nguyen Hue - Me Linh Square Roundabout - Bach Dang Wharf

1. Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street intersects Le Thanh Ton Street
The sidewalk of Nam Ky Nghia Street near the intersection of Le Thanh Ton Street is an area where it is easy to observe the parade approaching Nguyen Hue Walking Street. On Le Thanh Ton Street, there are a number of hotels where tourists can stay such as Nhat Ha Lavish Hotel, and shops open from 7:30 am such as Eck Saigon.

2. Nguyen Hue walking street
The forces will march through Nguyen Hue walking street. This location is near many iconic buildings such as the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee building and the statue of President Ho Chi Minh. Visitors can observe the parade in the park next to the statue, the square area and the sidewalks on both sides of Nguyen Hue street.

This route also has many famous hotels such as Rex Hotel, The Reverie, Sheraton, Kim Do, Oscar. Tourists can observe the parade from above at the cafes in the apartment building at 42 Nguyen Hue. Another observation point where the group can clearly see the walking street is the Starbucks cafe on the ground floor of the Saigon Garden building at 99 Nguyen Hue, which opens from 6:30 am.

3. Me Linh Square Roundabout - Bach Dang Wharf

This is the end point of the second direction of movement, the parade will march from Nguyen Hue walking street, pass Me Linh Square roundabout and gather at Bach Dang Wharf. Bach Dang Wharf area is also the place where 15 cannons are located, firing salutes on the morning of April 30.

Hotels in the area with panoramic views of the Me Linh Square Roundabout and Bach Dang Wharf include Renaissance, The Majestic Liberty Central and Hilton Saigon. Visitors can visit the cafes at the Seaprodex building at the beginning of Dong Khoi Street to watch the cannon firing and the parade of troops gathering at Bach Dang Wharf.

Visitors can travel to Bach Dang wharf by metro, stopping at Ba Son station, about 700 meters from Bach Dang wharf. Another place to observe the parade, the gathering parade at Bach Dang wharf and watch the fighter jets flying in the sky is the Ba Son bridge area connecting District 1 with Thu Duc City.

Direction 3: Le Duan - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Nguyen Dinh Chieu - Dinh Tien Hoang - Hoa Lu Stadium

1. Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Nguyen Dinh Chieu - beginning of Dinh Tien Hoang street

The road is about 1 km long with wide sidewalks for tourists and locals to watch the parade. Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street is 500-800 m from Turtle Lake. Tourists can move from Turtle Lake to Pham Ngoc Thach Street to access Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street.

Some intersections with wide sidewalks where visitors can stand and watch include Pasteur - Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Hai Ba Trung - Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Phung Khac Khoan - Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Mac Dinh Chi - Nguyen Dinh Chieu intersections.

This street also has a cafe open all night called Three O'clock, where visitors can watch the parade from here.

2. Dinh Tien Hoang Street - Hoa Lu Stadium

From the intersection of Nguyen Dinh Chieu - Dinh Tien Hoang, the forces gradually moved towards the assembly point at Hoa Lu Stadium. This area is about 400 meters from the Zoo and Botanical Garden at Nguyen Binh Khiem gate.

Observation points are on both sides of Dinh Tien Hoang street or Highland coffee shop at the intersection of Nguyen Dinh Chieu - Dinh Tien Hoang, open from 7am.

Direction 4: Le Duan - Nam Ky Khoi Nghia - Dien Bien Phu - Hai Ba Trung - Le Van Tam Park

Visitors can stand at major intersections to watch the parade, marching through this area. The first location is the intersection of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia and Dien Bien Phu, which has wide sidewalks. The other three intersections are Pasteur - Dien Bien Phu, Pham Ngoc Thach - Dien Bien Phu and Dien Bien Phu - Hai Ba Trung.

After watching the parade, from Le Van Tam park, visitors can walk to Tan Dinh church, Tan Dinh market and stop at cafes along Hai Ba Trung street to relax.

General notes:

In addition to watching on the street, people and tourists watched the parade live through 20 large screens installed on Le Duan (6 screens), Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Le Loi (3 screens), Nguyen Hue, Dong Khoi, Dien Bien Phu, Nguyen Dinh Chieu streets (2 screens).

The event starts at 6:30am, so arrive 1-3 hours in advance to secure a good spot. Prioritize walking, metro, bus, and ride-hailing because private vehicles will be banned in the central area.

Parking locations: Le Van Tam Park, Tao Dan Park, Vincom Dong Khoi, Turtle Lake, parking lot next to Nguyen Hue walking street, Diamond Plaza, Youth Cultural House.
