Works at the exhibition
The exhibition displays 27 lacquer paintings by artist Mai Thi Kim Uyen, whose stage name is Uyen Mai.
Mai Thi Kim Uyen's paintings are considered by many colleagues to be a source of strong emotions, filled with the youth of lovely girls and somewhere there is the appearance of a woman full of struggles with love.
Watching "The capricious girls", art lovers feel a burning desire to return to their youth. Painter Ho Thi Xuan Thu shared: "I love her girls because they are my youth, my feelings, my dreams, and yours in them."
According to artist Ho Thi Xuan Thu, with lacquer as the main material in her creations, we find strength in the gentle, attraction in the vast, elegance in the simple... which with her burning passion, the artist has pursued to express.
Works in exhibition
Graduated from Hue University of Arts with a major in fine arts education, Mai Thi Kim Uyen is known as a promising young artist. The artist has participated in many regional and national art exhibitions as well as group exhibitions, most recently the exhibition "Calling peace back" by 5 artists from the Central Highlands, displayed at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum of Fine Arts in 2022.
Talking about the exhibition "The capricious girls", artist Uyen Mai said: "I painted and talked to these girls. I looked at them, they looked at me. The painting brought me joy and happiness, like close friends. The painting spoke for me the things I could not say. The painting is not just a painting but a part of my heart that I have given to it... Work is the best teacher. Being challenged by the lacquer material is a lot, but every time I accept it, I reach a new level".
