Coach Kim Sang Sik explains the use of Van Vi and Minh Khoa

Speaking after the 5-0 victory over Laos in the opening match of the 2027 Asian Cup Final Qualifiers, coach Kim Sang Sik expressed his joy at his players' good performance and dedicated the victory to the fans. The Korean coach also explained how to use players to ensure competitiveness in the Vietnamese team's squad.

In the last two matches against Cambodia and Laos, coach Kim Sang Sik made reasonable adjustments in terms of personnel, especially the use of players like Nguyen Van Vi and Vo Hoang Minh Khoa, helping the team achieve good results.

Evaluating Minh Khoa’s performance, coach Kim Sang Sik commented: “He performed well in the midfield position, moving appropriately and meeting tactical requirements. I believe Minh Khoa will play even better in the upcoming matches.”

Meanwhile, Van Vi continues to maintain his high form after the 2024 AFF Cup. Coach Kim Sang Sik affirmed that the coaching staff always chooses the players with the best form to compete, to ensure healthy competition in the squad.

The best player of the match – Nguyen Van Vi – also shared his joy when contributing two goals to the team’s overall victory. “I am very happy to score two goals, more importantly to help the team have a favorable start. Hopefully we will continue to maintain this form in the upcoming matches,” Van Vi said.

On the Laos team's side, coach Ha Hyeok-jun admitted that the defeat was not too surprising as Vietnam is a strong team with well-organized play and smooth tactical implementation.

“Since taking up my post in Laos, I have noticed the gap between Lao football and the leading football teams in the region such as Vietnam and Thailand. I am working hard to narrow this gap, and my immediate goal is to prepare well for the upcoming SEA Games,” said Ha Hyeok-jun.

With this victory, the Vietnamese team temporarily leads Group F and will look forward to the important match with Malaysia on June 10.
