Hue City: Nguyen Hoang Bridge connecting the two banks of the Huong River officially opened to technical traffic

(PLVN) - On the morning of March 26, the People's Committee of Hue City held a ceremony to technically open Nguyen Hoang Bridge, part of the Nguyen Hoang Road and Huong River Overpass Project. This is one of the important activities in the series of events to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Hue Liberation Day (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2025).

Attending and cutting the ribbon to open the road were Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Permanent Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh; Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh; Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Inspection Commission Tran Van Ron; Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Minister of National Defense; and representatives of central and local ministries, branches.

The Nguyen Hoang Bridge project started on December 23, 2022, the project progress according to the contract is 1,090 days. However, with the determination to complete the project to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Hue City Liberation Day, after 814 days of construction, the project has now been technically opened to traffic (almost 9 months ahead of schedule).

The idea of designing the bridge with the image of a crane worshipping Thien Mu; carrying the message of the eternity of a sacred spiritual place where heaven and earth converge and harmonize. The two arched planes of the bridge symbolize the wings of a crane landing on the Huong River, located on Nguyen Hoang Street, the crane's head facing Thien Mu Pagoda. The "V" shaped bridge pillars symbolize a flock of cranes flapping their wings and flying to gather here.

Nguyen Hoang Street and Huong River Overpass Project with a total investment of more than 2,280 billion VND, of which phase 1 is more than 1,855 billion VND from the central and local budgets.

The project's completion will contribute to completing the main traffic network in the area; improving traffic capacity, preventing congestion and reducing traffic volume on National Highway 1A and inner-city routes through the center of Hue City.

At the same time, it creates a driving force to promote socio -economic development, tourism services and improve people's lives; form and develop satellite cities, new urban and residential areas; create a premise to expand Hue urban area in all directions; effectively exploit the land fund planned on both sides of the project route, creating revenue for the local budget.
