Return to the 90s music atmosphere with the "Capital Alumni Gala" in 2025

This information was just announced at the meeting of artists participating in the "Capital Alumni Gala" in 2025 held on the afternoon of March 26, in Hanoi.

The 1990s was the period when international music penetrated and exploded in the cultural and entertainment life of Vietnamese youth, creating an endless wave of passion for The Beatles, Queen, ABBA, Smokie, Bee Gees, Boney M, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Deep Purple, Metallica... Along with music, lifestyle, fashion style, famous singers and bands of that period inspired Vietnamese students with a lot of inspiration and a strong love for music and life.

Also during this period, the movement of organizing student balls was extremely vibrant, especially in the capital Hanoi. Student balls continuously took place in the schoolyards of major universities such as: University of General Sciences, University of Construction, University of Foreign Languages, University of Technology..., attracting the participation of tens of thousands of students from many schools and becoming the most popular cultural, artistic and entertainment activity for young people of the 6X and 7X generations at that time.

Those student singers and bands of that time are now in their 50s and 60s, have become famous artists, politicians, intellectuals, businessmen..., but they still have a great love for music.

Carrying that love, the program “Capital Alumni Gala” was organized to recreate the vibrant, explosive atmosphere in university yards, gymnasiums, stadiums, dormitories… in the past, while spreading passion and positive energy to the attendees.

This year's "Capital Alumni Gala" program has the participation of more than one hundred singers and bands of Capital alumni such as: musician Quoc Trung and Phuong Dong band, musician Thanh Phuong and The Time band, Wild Horse band, ABBA Vietnam band; Big Toe - CO - ZigZag dance group; MC Thao Van, MC Dinh Tien Dung; singers Thanh Lam, Thanh Tam, Thuy Dung, Dinh Lan Huong, Tung John, Long Vu, Ngo Viet Khoi, Le Tien Dat, Lien Trinh...

Ms. Nguyen My Trang, Deputy General Director of My Thanh Company, member of the Organizing Committee, said: In the first season, "The Capital Alumni Gala" attracted more than 3,000 live viewers, 1 million livestream views, and the participation of nearly 100 artists on stage. After this brilliant mark, the organizing committee received many requests from the audience and from the participating artists themselves, hoping to reunite on stage once again to relive the fiery moments of youth. That is the reason why the second season of the program was organized.

“We have spent a lot of time and effort discussing, practicing and are ready to burn ourselves out in the upcoming gala night. Hopefully the program will be a meaningful cultural and artistic activity in 2025, aiming to preserve and honor true artistic values. We believe that the passion of youth and creativity in art will be a flame that burns forever, defying all challenges of time,” Ms. My Trang emphasized.

As one of the artists participating in this program, MC Long Vu of VTV said that he is very excited, nervous and looking forward to the day the program takes place, because the older we get, the more nostalgic we become about the past, and "Capital Alumni Gala" is the "train" that takes him back to the vibrant, romantic days of his student days.

Sharing the same sentiment, singer Thuy Dung shared that she participated in the program with all the excitement and nostalgia. As a music teacher, she hopes that through this program, she can spread love, passion for music and positive life energy to young people.

The organizers said that, in addition to the vibrant musical performances, the program "Capital Alumni Gala" this time also has the participation of designer Anh Thu (Ao Dai Ngan An brand) and a special performance by a group of Misses, Runners-up, and models of the 7X generation, such as: model, actress Hoang Xuan, Runner-up Bang Giang, Runner-up Thu Hang, supermodel Giang Cindy, supermodel Hai Yen, ...

In particular, during the rehearsal process for the program, many former student singers such as: MC Dinh Tien Dung, singer Thanh Tam, Dinh Lan Huong, Van Sandra, Tung John, Le Tien Dat, Ngo Viet Khoi, Le Quang Ha, Nguyen Vo Chanh, Nguyen Duc Hiep, ABBA Vietnam group... gathered in the studio to sing together the song "We are the world", bringing an inspiring opening to the program.

During the official show, the Organizing Committee plans to perform this song with the live harmonization on stage of more than 100 artists and the resonance of thousands of audiences.

Elaborately and grandly staged, but still ensuring a retro, nostalgic style, the program promises to create an artistic space full of emotions for music lovers in the capital.
