Previously, there was information that coach Kim Pan Gon would have to compensate FAM 3 million ringgit (more than 16.2 billion VND), because Mr. Kim Pan Gon withdrew from the position of head coach of the Malaysian team before the deadline (the contract is valid until December 2025).
However, recently, FAM Vice President Datuk Yusoff Mahadi spoke up to confirm that Coach Kim Pan Gon does not need to pay any money to FAM. Both sides will part ways in a friendly and polite manner.

"It is true that there is a clause determining the compensation level between FAM and coach Kim Pan Gon. This is also a common practice between employees and employers when both parties terminate the contract before the deadline," said Datuk Yusoff Mahadi.
"However, in the case between FAM and Coach Kim Pan Gon, we parted ways on good terms. We acknowledge Coach Kim Pan Gon's contributions to Malaysian football over the past time.
FAM respects coach Kim Pan Gon's decision and what he has achieved in 2.5 years of leading the Malaysian team," FAM Vice President Datuk Yusoff Mahadi added.
Coach Kim Pan Gon suddenly resigned from his position as head coach of the Malaysian national team 3 days ago. This decision was made by the Korean coach, after the Malaysian team failed to enter the 3rd qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia.
However, according to FAM's assessment, coach Kim Pan Gon still achieved certain success during his time leading the Malaysian team, helping the team reach the Asian Cup finals for the first time in 43 years.
The Malaysian team appeared at the 2023 Asian Cup, held earlier this year. In this tournament, Malaysia was in Group E with Bahrain, South Korea and Jordan, they did not get past the group stage.
After coach Kim Pan Gon resigned, FAM appointed Spanish coach Pau Marti Vicente as interim coach of the team nicknamed Harimau Malaya.
