Hanoi Police FC has had a turbulent start to the season at the head coach position. Tran Tien Dai and Gong Oh-kyun have left their positions. The latest name to be appointed is Kiatisak Senamuang, who will make his debut after the Asian Cup and Lunar New Year break.
The "captain" problem of the Hanoi Police Club
Hanoi Police Club entered this year's season as the defending champion. However, the playing style and stability that this team has shown are not commensurate with the number one position, let alone higher goals. In the 2023 season, the police team used up to 3 "captains".
Coach Gong Oh-kyun lost his seat after only the first 5 matches leading the Hanoi Police Club.
" The Hanoi Police Club has difficulty choosing a coach that they can trust. That coach must of course ensure titles and good results. Besides, the team needs that coach to bring an image, style, and playing style that has an impression. They are pursuing a project in which the ideal desire is Mr. Polking. Since the beginning of the season, this team has lacked personnel stability for a long-term project ," commented commentator Ngo Quang Tung.
In the 2023/24 V.League, Hanoi Police Club considered inviting coach Alexandre Polking, but the deal failed. The person chosen was former U23 Vietnam coach Gong Oh-kyun. After much expectation, the Korean coach had to leave after 5 unsuccessful matches and disagreements behind the scenes.
" The contract with Mr. Gong Oh-kyun is like a replacement for the big target, Polking. He is like a temporary contract, does not guarantee long-term factors and has certain risks. Mr. Gong has limited experience in V.League and the reality reflects correctly when the results do not show the way of operation. The way he grasps his players and opponents is still limited ," said commentator Quang Tung.
" Coach Gong Oh-kyun does not understand much about V.League. Every coach has his own thinking and will. However, those usage options go against the rules and bring bad results, so there needs to be adjustments and adaptations. I think Mr. Gong's adjustments are relatively slow and few. The 4 matches in V.League revealed many problems of the head coach in using and replacing players.
Using players in the wrong positions is obvious to everyone. He can prove it right if the player plays well. But, V.League is not that simple. For players to play well, it takes time, something that Mr. Gong does not have at Hanoi Police Club .
Waiting for coach Kiatisak to show his talent
The deal of Coach Kiatisak moving to Hanoi Police Club surprised the public. The Thai coach can be considered a "confident" of Mr. Duc. Coach Kiatisak and HAGL have always been together for many years. However, Coach Kiatisak affirmed that Mr. Duc supports this deal.
Coach Kiatisak brings new hope to the police team.
According to commentator Quang Tung, the Thai coach has all the qualities to lead the Hanoi Police Club. Kiatisak used to play for HAGL Club in the early 2000s. He then led the mountain town team for the first time in 2010 and the second time from 2020 to 2023.
Coach Kiatisak is no stranger to the nooks and crannies of how the V.League operates. He can also communicate with his students in Vietnamese. That is a great advantage in creating a bond with the players.
" Kiatisak has proven his ability and has a deep understanding of V.League from many angles. I believe his standards can improve the quality of Hanoi Police Club's performance.
Coach Kiatisak is lucky to have time to build his ideas for the new team. He has nearly 2 months to do that. I think that period of time is very suitable for Coach Kiatisak to build a foundation with his influence ," commented commentator Quang Tung.
In addition, commentator Quang Tung believes that coach Kiatisak of the Hanoi Police Club can benefit from the return of Doan Van Hau and Phan Van Duc. They will add both quality and quantity to the police team in the remaining stages of the season.
