(QNO) - Nong Son District Forest Protection Department has just held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Forest Protection Force (May 21, 1973 - May 21, 2023) and the 3rd anniversary of the establishment of the specialized force for forest management and protection.
In 2008, Nong Son District Forest Protection Department was established. Since its establishment, the unit has continuously strived to excellently complete its assigned tasks. The District Forest Protection Department coordinated with related units and specialized forest protection forces to organize 607 patrols, sweeps and crime scene investigations. Thereby, 401 violations were detected, more than 172m3 of round timber , more than 326m3 of sawn timber , 951kg of Uoi seeds, 113kg of forest animal products were temporarily seized...
Along with that, 10 cars, 5 tractors, 1 excavator, 20 motorbikes, 4 motorboats, 17 chainsaws were seized; 34 camps, 10 generators, 6 stone mills, 100 liters of gasoline, 20 liters of lubricating oil and many other items used for illegal gold mining and panning were destroyed. The authorities also initiated 21 criminal cases for violations of regulations on illegal forest exploitation, forest destruction and violations of regulations on fire prevention and fighting; nearly 2.5 billion VND was paid to the state budget.
On this occasion, the Nong Son District Party Committee presented a banner to the district's forest rangers for their achievements in forest management, protection and development; the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the District People's Committee commended many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in performing their tasks.
