Support 100,000 humanitarian addresses
According to Ms. Bui Thi Hoa, President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society, Humanitarian Month has been organized by the Vietnam Red Cross Society since 2018 as a peak month for the whole people to do humanitarian work. From 2021, the Secretariat has decided to make May every year the Humanitarian Month to raise awareness and arouse compassion among all classes of people; promote the responsibility of Party committees at all levels, authorities, and social forces in humanitarian work; create a widespread emulation movement to do good deeds in agencies, organizations, and all classes of people, promote hunger eradication, poverty reduction, build a united, compassionate community; and promote the mobilization of resources to help people in difficult circumstances.

QUANG NGAI RED CROSS SOCIETY
Over the past 5 years, Humanitarian Month has attracted the enthusiastic participation and response of people across the country. The Vietnam Red Cross Society has called for and mobilized resources worth more than 2,052 billion VND, exceeding 144% compared to the average value of activities in the months of the year and has made positive contributions to changing the awareness of Party committees, authorities, organizations and individuals towards humanitarian work, creating a large movement of mutual love and support in the community and bringing about many significant achievements compared to regular humanitarian activities. After 5 years of organization, Humanitarian Month has mobilized thousands of billions of VND, supporting over 4.3 million poor and disadvantaged people.

The special feature of this year's Humanitarian Month is that it is associated with the movement "Good people, good deeds - joining hands to build a compassionate community". Ms. Hoa shared: "This year, Humanitarian Month aims to arouse the love of each person, calling on everyone to actively participate in charitable and humanitarian activities as a command from the heart, ready to help difficult circumstances, multiply acts of kindness, contributing to building a united and compassionate community. Awareness and action with the command of the heart will heal the damage after natural disasters, epidemics and uncertainties in life, connecting people with each other, people with society; spreading and multiplying the good values of the large, unified, global humanitarian movement".
President Vo Van Thuong attended the launching ceremony to support the construction of Great Solidarity houses for poor households in Dien Bien province and presented the first round of support, May 13.
According to the plan, for Humanitarian Month 2023, the entire association will organize activities to strive to achieve 100% of the targets in the provincial and municipal associations and organize a series of practical activities towards the community during the peak week of Humanitarian Month. Each provincial and municipal association will organize at least one humanitarian project, humanitarian work and humanitarian address program with the direct support of leaders of local Party committees, authorities, departments, branches and sectors.
The Vietnam Red Cross Society strives to mobilize over 400 billion VND to support 100,000 humanitarian addresses, with priority given to poor and disadvantaged fishermen, poor and disabled children, with many meaningful activities such as: building and repairing 63 "Clean kitchen - delicious rice" points at kindergartens and primary schools in especially difficult conditions, worth at least 150 million VND/point; building and repairing 115 Red Cross houses for poor and disadvantaged fishermen; supporting the livelihoods of 200 poor and disadvantaged fishing households; mobilizing the establishment of a Red Cross Activity Fund with a minimum of 100 million VND/province...
Building a civilized community, full of humanity
In order for the Humanitarian Month to truly become a month for the entire population to do humanitarian work, contributing to the implementation of the Party and State's social security policy, on April 23, at the launching ceremony of the Humanitarian Month 2023, President Vo Van Thuong called on agencies, organizations, businesses, international organizations, philanthropists and people from all walks of life to continue to coordinate, support and accompany the Vietnam Red Cross Society in providing increasingly more effective assistance to the poor and people in difficult circumstances. Strive to mobilize at least 400 billion VND to assist 1 million people in difficult circumstances.
The President emphasized: "Let us unite with love and compassion, together building a united community, a progressive, civilized society, full of humanity."
Responding to that call, as of May 16, Ms. Tran Thu Hang, Head of the Communications Department (Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society), said that 63/63 provinces have implemented the Humanitarian Month. Activities have been actively implemented by associations at all levels. Notably, the total value of activities and fundraising in localities has reached 610 billion VND, helping over 600,000 people. Of which, support for building and repairing 200 houses, supporting livelihoods for 80,000 humanitarian addresses.
To achieve the above results, Ms. Hang said: "Humanitarian Month 2023 received the attention, direction and direct participation in humanitarian works and tasks of leaders of Party committees, authorities and local agencies and units; the response and active participation of people, communities and organizations, individuals and businesses".

As part of the Humanitarian Month activities, on May 15, the Vietnam Red Cross Society in collaboration with the National Humanitarian Information Portal 1400, the Vietnam Women's Union, the Central Council of the Young Pioneers, etc. launched a fundraising campaign to "Accompany poor and disabled children". The campaign will run from May 12 to July 10 with 2 forms of support:

Red Cross Associations at all levels have also actively and proactively advised Party committees and authorities to launch and implement the movement "Good people, good deeds - joining hands to build a compassionate community" associated with the campaign "Each organization, each individual is associated with a humanitarian address" among cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees, armed forces, agencies, units and organizations.
The Vietnam Red Cross Society encourages localities to honor initiatives and practical actions so that the movement "Good people, good deeds - joining hands to build a compassionate community" reaches every agency, unit, organization, community, and family. Each person and each organization, with their own conditions and capabilities, can support, connect, and assist humanitarian addresses, focusing on poor and disadvantaged fishermen, poor and disabled children, building humanitarian shelters in border areas, providing sustainable livelihoods for the disadvantaged, supporting poor patients, etc., and paying attention to remote, border, and island areas where natural disasters, storms, floods, climate change, and epidemics occur.
"Everyone takes positive actions from their hearts. Not just big actions, but starting with simple actions such as helping people around, sympathizing with difficult circumstances... The joint efforts of society will create a large humanitarian ecosystem, connecting resources, being a support and motivation for those who are helped to rise up in life, so that the fire of kindness warms our hearts", the President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society expressed.
Many places "light up humanity"
In Quang Binh, on May 13 and 14, the Red Cross Society and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh District organized the program "Lighting up humanity in border areas", visiting and presenting 240 gifts to poor people in villages, with sponsorship from Buddhists; coordinating with Vinaconex Charity Association and friends to hand over 6 mobile swimming pools (total value of 1 billion VND) to primary and secondary schools. The Association strives to mobilize more than 4 billion VND in Humanitarian Month 2023 to build 20 works and humanitarian works, helping more than 3,000 people in difficulty.
The Red Cross Society of Quang Tri province has just coordinated with the Youth Union of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to start building a charity house for the family of veteran Le Ngoc Loc (Cam Thuy commune, Cam Lo district). In Quang Nam, the Humanitarian Month was deployed simultaneously, the Red Cross Society of the province mobilized more than 10 billion VND to support about 20,000 poor people.
