Many major traffic projects in Ho Chi Minh City such as An Phu intersection, Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal, Nhon Trach bridge, Duong Quang Ham street... are all speeding up construction, determined to reach the finish line by April 30.

Opening the gateway between East and West

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung (47 years old, truck driver) expressed his joy when he heard that the HC1 underpass at An Phu intersection was about to be put into operation. He said that up to now, every time he passed through An Phu intersection during rush hour, he was very frustrated.

The Tran Quoc Hoan – Cong Hoa connecting road and T3 station are about to reach the finish line at the same time.

"The highway from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City is clear, but just 4km from Ring Road 2 to An Phu intersection, almost every weekend there is a traffic jam. Sometimes it takes more than 45 minutes to get through. If the underpass is completed, traffic conditions will definitely improve," said Mr. Hung.

At An Phu intersection, hundreds of workers and machinery are still working hard. This is a key traffic project at the eastern gateway of the city. The project has a 3-storey design with a basement and an overpass. In particular, the HC1 branch tunnel from Long Thanh expressway turning left to Thu Thiem tunnel is prioritized for faster implementation, reaching over 80% so far.

Mr. Luong Minh Phuc, Director of the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that the remaining items such as pumping stations, closed tunnel segments, etc. are being urgently constructed to open to traffic before April 30.

Right next door, the HC2 tunnel branch turning right from Thu Thiem tunnel to the expressway is also accelerating and will be completed in the coming months.

Also in the East, the construction site of the Tan Van - Nhon Trach Component 1A project is bustling day and night with the goal of finishing on April 30 as directed by the Prime Minister.

Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board said: "We will close the last span of Nhon Trach Bridge next week and complete the final work to open the technical traffic on April 27."

Nhon Trach Bridge is the largest bridge of the Ring Road 3 project, connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Nhon Trach District (Dong Nai Province). When completed, it will be very convenient for people in Ho Chi Minh City to go to Vung Tau.

In the West, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway section from Nguyen Van Tao intersection (Nha Be) to National Highway 1 is also racing to be put into operation on April 30. Thus, vehicles from Thu Duc and District 7 can follow this route to the Western provinces more conveniently.

Many inner-city routes simultaneously speed up

The construction area of Terminal T3 - Tan Son Nhat International Airport has also been very busy in recent days. A representative of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), the project investor, said that to date, the total construction volume has reached 95%.

The construction site never sleeps, ensuring the construction progress of Nhon Trach bridge.

The main items such as passenger terminal, high-rise parking lot, electromechanical system, overpass, aircraft parking lot, technical system are almost completed. The contractor is constructing stone floors, ceilings, toilets, electromechanical installation, sprinkler system, fire alarm, fireproof steel doors, etc.

The Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa connecting road project has also received enough construction land and is accelerating to connect synchronously when T3 station is put into operation. Currently, this connecting road project has many items put into use such as the Tran Quoc Hoan - Phan Thuc Duyen underpass, the overpass from pier M1 to pier T15 and road 18E, section from Km 1 + 210.

Package 13, which builds roads, retaining walls, sidewalks, drainage, traffic organization at the end of the route, and widens Truong Chinh Street at the end of the route under construction, is expected to be completed before April 20.

Not far away, Duong Quang Ham Street has opened to traffic in phase 1 and is continuing to complete construction. At the same time, Ho Chi Minh City Electricity is also relocating the power pole system on the route. When the power system is completely relocated, the construction unit will lay asphalt and complete the remaining work.

This is an important traffic axis connecting many densely populated areas that often experience traffic jams, so when completed, the route will significantly reduce traffic pressure in the northwest area of the city.

The Tham Luong - Ben Cat - Rach Nuoc Len canal renovation project has now reached more than 45% of the workload. Most of the packages have completed the installation of prestressed concrete embankments, technical trench systems and drainage culverts, ready to deploy the construction of the road surface on both sides of the canal.

The investor representative said that some canal-side roads passing through District 12, Go Vap and Tan Binh will be paved in April and opened to traffic on the occasion of April 30. The entire project, including two canal-side roads, will be completed and put into operation by the end of 2025.

Commencement of many important transport projects

In addition to the above projects, Ho Chi Minh City also has a series of projects that will start construction on April 30. In particular, the city will start construction of the My Thuy intersection (phase 3) with the Ring Road 2 overpass, right branch, and the Ky Ha 3 bridge, right branch.

At the same time, approve two sections of the Ring Road 2 project and complete the stake setting and handover of the compensation and resettlement project boundary of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway; start the bidding package for bomb and mine clearance of the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway and Ring Road 2; open the branch bridges A, D, E at the HLD intersection connecting Nhon Trach bridge to the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway...
