(NLDO) – Looking at her friends choosing careers and universities, female student Bui Thi Tuyen feels sad because her studies are about to be unfinished.

In the program "Bringing school to candidates" held at Bao Loc High School (Lam Dong province) on March 16, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper awarded 20 scholarships to students in the province who have especially difficult circumstances but strive to excel in their studies and life.

Holding the scholarship in her hand, Bui Thi Tuyen, a 12th grade student at Loc Thanh High School, had tears in her eyes: "I am very happy to receive the scholarship support, but I am also very sad because I may not be able to go to university in the near future. I am afraid of disappointing the expectations of the benefactors."

Although she is a 12th grade student, Tuyen has a small figure, lost in the crowd, brown skin and a soft voice. The female student spoke in a low voice when talking about her family situation.

In 2019, Tuyen's father suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and passed away. The small family lost their breadwinner. The incident caused Tuyen's brother to be unable to bear the shock and suffer from mental illness. Tuyen's mother was in poor health and could not do heavy work, so she could only collect cashew nuts to make at home. Thanks to her aunt's tuition support, Tuyen was able to continue going to school.

Since then, Tuyen gradually became the one who took care of everything in the house. During the day, she went to school and at night, Tuyen helped her mother with extra work to cover the family's living expenses.

"My brother has a mental illness. He is 29 years old but cannot take care of himself. My mother is always sick. I really want to go to university but my family's circumstances do not allow it. I cannot be selfish and think only of myself. After completing grade 12, I will look for a job" - Tuyen confided.

The young but strong-willed girl said she would go to work to earn money to pay for her expenses first, and when she was stable, she would save money to go back to school. Because the female student clearly understood that only going to school could help her family escape the poverty of the past years.

With eyes filled with hope, Tuyen said: "I don't know why I like journalism so much, even though I know it's a very difficult and tiring job. If I have the chance, I still want to try my hand at this field of study."

Meanwhile, Bui Nguyen Thanh Hang, a 12A2 student at Le Thi Pha High School, was also very happy to receive a scholarship from Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper. The scholarship is a gift that gives Hang more motivation to fulfill her dream of becoming a policewoman to serve the locality.

"I know the road ahead will be full of difficulties, but if I don't try, I won't know my strength" - Hang shared.
