Every year, Christmas in Hanoi is extremely bustling, with a sudden increase in the number of people going out. Many central streets are often congested, and shops are overloaded, operating until midnight without stopping to serve customers. However, this is also an opportunity to "make a lot of money", so no one wants to miss it. This year is no exception, shops around the Cathedral or Hoan Kiem Lake are rushing to prepare for Christmas Eve 2024.
Shops around Hanoi Cathedral are always crowded on Christmas Eve.
Currently, almost all shops around the Cathedral, in addition to being lavishly decorated, have also prepared staff and goods to operate through the night.
An employee of a sidewalk lemon tea shop said: " The number of customers on Christmas Eve will increase dramatically by 2-3 times compared to normal, so we have to prepare more tables and chairs and hire more workers to serve on time. In addition, the shop also has to increase its stock of goods to avoid shortages when needed. On normal days, the shop will be open until 11-12 pm, but on Christmas Eve it will close 2-3 hours later, until the customers are gone. "
Some cafes with balcony views facing the Cathedral are expected to see an explosion in customers, especially tables on high floors that can watch all the activities below, which will soon be sold out. However, the cafe will not charge any additional fees or require customers to book a table in advance. " Customers who arrive first will be able to choose their seats first, and if the cafe runs out of tables, customers will be served take-out food, " said an employee.
The shops around Hanoi Cathedral are decorated very splendidly for Christmas.
Street food stalls are also expected to operate through Christmas Eve. While busy sorting vegetables, an employee of a stall on Hang Hanh Street said: " We usually only sell until 10pm, but that day we will sell until all customers are gone. Not to mention that the number of customers will be many times higher than usual, so we have to import a lot of ingredients and double the number of workers. As the day approaches, we also have to prepare some dishes in advance to be able to serve them on time. Because dishes cannot be served quickly ."
The manager of the Nhau Tu Do restaurant chain said that in preparation for Christmas Eve, the restaurants in the system have all been decorated beautifully, helping customers have the best Christmas atmosphere experience when dining.
" We have prepared staff and materials to ensure the best service on Christmas Eve. The store is expected to open until around midnight, which is also a fairly comfortable time because usually after dinner, customers will move to many other places to celebrate Christmas such as the walking street and the Cathedral, " he said.
Even shops not located in the city center have decided to operate throughout Christmas Eve. The owner of a coffee shop in Duong Noi urban area (Ha Dong district) said: " Many people who want to avoid traffic jams will choose cafes with many beautifully decorated spaces to have fun and take pictures. Therefore, the shop is also ready to close late on Christmas Day ."
It is known that this restaurant has spent more than 250 million VND on Christmas decorations to attract customers to check-in. The restaurant has up to 30 Christmas trees, 2 snow machines, snowmen, Santa Claus, reindeer, cinnamon wreaths, fireplaces, flashing lights and many other accessories. This sophistication has helped the restaurant have more than 20 photo angles, allowing customers to freely "live virtual". In particular, the restaurant also prepares a changing room and a separate area to rent costumes and accessories to serve customers taking photos.
