From now until the end of the season, carrots will be harvested in concentrated areas and mainly exported to Korea, Japan and Eastern Europe.
To ensure the quality of carrots for export and avoid being returned by importing countries, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong recommends that localities with concentrated carrot growing areas such as Cam Giang, Nam Sach, Chi Linh and related units increase propaganda for carrot producers and businesses to comply with the plant quarantine regulations of importing countries.
Direct specialized agencies to strengthen investigation and detection of pests on carrots. Guide farmers to take care of carrots, especially pest control to protect productivity and ensure that carrot products meet export standards. In particular, apply balanced fertilizers, increase potassium fertilizers. When carrots develop excessive stems and leaves, use a knife to prune the leaves to inhibit growth. Only use pesticides to prevent pests when absolutely necessary. Only harvest when the quarantine period has been ensured.
For the People's Committees of communes, only confirm the origin of carrots for export produced in the area and are responsible for traceability. Enterprises and traders purchasing carrots in the area sign contracts to link up and consume products to fulfill legal commitments. For export orders to Korea and Japan, it is recommended to take samples to test for pesticide residues in all fields before harvest. The provincial Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection increases the collection of carrot samples to analyze pesticide residues and provides effective prevention and control measures to ensure that carrot products meet export quality.
