By April 17, Duc Chinh commune had basically finished harvesting all 360 hectares of carrots, with an output of more than 15,000 tons, equivalent to last year.
In addition, 1,100 hectares of carrots grown by people in this commune elsewhere in the province and in other provinces yielded more than 40,000 tons, of which more than 34,000 tons were brought back to the commune for consumption, accounting for 85%.
The whole commune exported more than 32,000 tons of carrots, mainly to South Korea (15,000 tons), the rest to Japan, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia and the Middle East. The export price of carrots reached 8,000 VND/kg, equivalent to the previous year. However, at the end of the season, the price decreased by 500-700 VND/kg due to competition with Chinese carrots.
This year, the carrot harvest ended nearly a month later than last year due to the influence of erratic weather.
