On the evening of June 21, at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace - Hanoi, the 17th National Press Awards ceremony, 2022 took place. Speaking at the opening ceremony, journalist Le Quoc Minh - Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the National Press Awards Council reviewed the glorious history of Vietnam's revolutionary journalism.
Accordingly, over the past 98 years (1925 - 2023) under the leadership of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the trust and support of the people, our country's revolutionary press has always been closely associated with the heroic history of the nation. Through the practice of revolutionary struggle, the press is a sharp spiritual weapon contributing to the great achievements of our Party and People in the cause of independence, unification, peace, innovation, national development and integration.

Under the leadership of the Party, the press always accompanies the country and the people, raising its voice for the people's interests, for the aspiration for peace and the development of a prosperous country; flexibly exploiting and taking advantage of favorable conditions to spread its voice and ability to influence society, orient public opinion; constantly improving the journalistic team's political qualities, knowledge, professional skills, enthusiasm and creativity... Therefore, more than ever, journalists today need to promote and create more of the fine traditions of the Vietnamese revolutionary press. That is the tradition of steadfast political courage, being closely attached to the people, and being absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland and the nation.
Evaluating the results of the 17th National Press Awards - 2022, journalist Le Quoc Minh said: From 1,894 entries, the National Press Awards Council selected 1,774 entries that were eligible for the preliminary round. The preliminary judging process was carried out seriously, strictly, in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of the awards council. In the final round, with 157 entries in 11 award categories, the Council discussed, assessed and voted to select 123 entries for the 17th National Press Awards - 2022. Of which, there were 8 A prizes, 24 B prizes, 46 C prizes and 45 consolation prizes.
The entries have closely followed major topics from politics, economics, culture, society, security, defense and all aspects of life. Many press works have promptly and vividly reflected major events and important issues of the country with prominent topics such as: Party building and rectification; the fight against corruption and negativity, protecting the Party's ideological foundation; efforts to restore socio-economic development and build an independent and self-reliant economy in the context of being heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic; prominent economic issues such as: stock market, real estate market crisis, credit fraud, loopholes in petroleum business management.
In addition, the press has also reflected on social issues such as: school drug problems, human trafficking to Cambodia, violations at religious establishments; cultural topics, preserving and promoting national cultural identity; building cultural institutions in the community; protecting cultural values in the new era; protecting sovereignty over seas and islands, protecting the environment, responding to climate change; the spirit of great national solidarity, typical examples, noble, convincing and touching gestures; digital transformation in all areas of social life.
In general, the works participating in this year's awards are of good quality, the gap between central and local press is narrowed in many genres. Many works are invested in elaborately, the content is to discover new issues, criticize major policies and guidelines of the Party and State; propose many creative solutions, good ways of doing things, have the power to spread and influence in society. The works apply technology, digital transformation, the way of expression is close, vivid, attractive to readers. In particular, the genre of photojournalism has many better works than last year, with the ability to discover topics, professional expression...
Speaking at the award ceremony, President Vo Van Thuong warmly praised and highly appreciated the great contributions of generations of journalists across the country over the past years. Under the leadership of the Party, the guidance of Uncle Ho, the founder of the Vietnamese revolutionary press, and the support and assistance of the people, over the past 98 years, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has grown steadily, making many contributions to the cause of fighting for national independence and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
In recent times, the revolutionary press has truly been the voice of the Party, the forum of the People, reflecting the Vietnamese people through the ages; leaving many marks in the fight against corruption and negativity, being a sharp weapon in the fight against negative and erroneous arguments, protecting the Party's ideology.

In the new context, with the requirements and tasks of national development, many expectations are placed on press agencies and journalists to be proactive, positive, responsible, proactive, raise awareness, inspire, create motivation, determination, and consensus in society.
The President hopes that in the coming time, press agencies and journalists need to continue to promote their pioneering role on the ideological front. Thoroughly grasp the goal of building a professional, humane and modern press and media in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; demonstrate revolutionary character, take the lead in major issues of the country; be a sharp ideological weapon to protect the Party's ideological foundation, national and ethnic interests; arouse the desire for development, the core values of the country and ethnic groups; strongly promote the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, innovation, building an independent and autonomous economy associated with active, proactive, deep, substantive and effective international integration...
The President suggested that each press agency and each journalist be a cultural model, setting an example, putting the interests of the country and the Fatherland first, praising good people and good deeds to bring out the beauty and eliminate the bad. Each journalist needs to constantly learn, improve their ethics and expertise to integrate, especially in the digital age, and devote themselves to the cultural and ideological front to increasingly produce meaningful works for society, worthy of the trust of the Party and the People.

Participating in the 2022 National Press Awards, Ha Tinh Newspaper was honored to win the C prize with the 5-part report "Multiplying cultural soft power, arousing the aspirations of Ha Tinh people" by the group of authors: Anh Hoai - Thien Vy - Minh Hue - Huy Tung - Thai Sinh. 5 issues with 5 articles are a condensation of the cultural history of the homeland of Hong Mountain - La River, the system of viewpoints of the Party and State on culture, achievements as well as "bottlenecks" in implementing the Party's policies and guidelines on culture in Ha Tinh, solutions to overcome limitations to arouse the cultural strength and people of Ha Tinh. The Ha Tinh Newspaper's group of authors took a souvenir photo with Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh. The topic is presented with a rich, in-depth, and convincing system of illustrative images and videos, receiving great attention from readers as well as authorities at all levels and cultural managers. In addition to the C prize of the 2022 National Press Award of the Ha Tinh Newspaper group, this year's season Ha Tinh also has 3 other works entering the final round, including the investigative series: "Magic" in purchasing teaching and learning equipment in Ha Tinh by author Bui Tien (Bao Ve Phap Luat Newspaper) won the consolation prize. |
