Hanoi focuses on safe drug use, limiting medical errors

Assessing the importance of cooperation between the Department of Health and Hanoi University of Pharmacy, Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Health Nguyen Dinh Hung said that from March 1, 2022, the Hanoi Department of Health and Hanoi University of Pharmacy signed a Department - School cooperation agreement.

Up to now, after more than 2 years, the close cooperation between the Department and the University has brought many successes in the clinical pharmacy work of the Hanoi health sector, thereby contributing to ensuring the goal of improving the quality of treatment and preventing medical errors.

“The cooperation between the Department and the University in the coming time will focus on the key tasks of promoting the application of information technology in clinical pharmacy work; training and improving the capacity of pharmacists and the team performing clinical pharmacy work; and specialized support for clinical pharmacy in hospitals” - the Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Health emphasized.

Sharing at the workshop, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Vinh - Director of Ha Dong General Hospital said that with a planned scale of 650 beds and an actual scale of 962 beds, in 2023, Ha Dong General Hospital will examine and treat nearly 48,000 inpatients; and treat over 440,000 outpatients.

In recent times, the hospital's Board of Directors has aimed to build and standardize technical and professional processes, including clinical pharmacy operations processes, aiming for the highest efficiency in patient care and treatment when performing medical examination and treatment at the hospital.

The theme of this conference emphasizes the importance of clinical pharmacy activities in the safe and rational use of drugs in hospitals. In the context of modern medicine, optimizing treatment, ensuring safety and effectiveness for patients is a major challenge.

Clinical pharmacy not only helps doctors choose appropriate therapies but also helps monitor, manage and prevent unwanted side effects, improving treatment effectiveness and quality of life for patients.
