Preserving, embellishing and promoting the value of Nguyen Sinh Sac relic site

On December 4, in Cao Lanh City, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee jointly organized a scientific conference "Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac - A lifelong example of dedication to the country and people", on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the death of Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac (November 27, 1929 - November 27, 2024), the father of President Ho Chi Minh.

Attending the workshop were representatives of central ministries, localities, scientists and representatives of the family of Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac.

A life of honesty, refused to be an official twice.

Mr. Pho Bang Nguyen Sinh Sac was born in 1862 in Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, Nghe An. From a young age, he had a strong will to be independent and eager to learn. He was loved by everyone for his honesty, diligence, and affection. He was married to the Confucian scholar Hoang Xuan Duong, his daughter Hoang Thi Loan, and they had four children, including Nguyen Sinh Cung, the third child - who later became President Ho Chi Minh.

In 1894, he passed the bachelor's degree exam, and in 1901, he passed the Phó bảng exam at the Hội exam. Nguyen Sinh Sac was famous for his concept of "studying to become a human being, not to become an official" in the context of the country being colonized by the French, so after passing the exam, he refused to become an official twice.

Since 1910, on his journey to the southern land of the Fatherland, he visited many places such as: Saigon, Thu Dau Mot, An Giang, My Tho, Ben Tre and had time to go to Phnom Penh (Cambodia) to meet and discuss with patriotic scholars and intellectuals about the country's affairs, sometimes teaching Chinese characters or taking pulses, prescribing medicine to cure people's illnesses.

In 1917, Nguyen Sinh Sac came to Cao Lanh for the first time and became a doctor, providing free medical treatment to the poor. Here, he made friends with many patriotic people and participated in spreading patriotic ideas. In 1927, he returned to Cao Lanh and lived here until the end of his life, mobilizing young people to participate in the patriotic movement.

With the image of a Confucian scholar with profound knowledge, a devoted physician, a simple and pure life and a gentle and friendly personality, Mr. Pho Bang Nguyen Sinh Sac was very loved and respected by the villagers of Hoa An, Cao Lanh. He passed away on November 27, 1929 in Hoa An village, Cao Lanh, at the age of 67.

With infinite respect and grief, the people of Dong Thap organized a thoughtful funeral for him. During the wars of national liberation and reunification, the Party Committee and people of Dong Thap resolutely and skillfully protected his grave from the enemy's sabotage plots. After the country's reunification, his grave was built more spaciously.

Today, the relic site of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac, Vice-Chancellor in Ward 4, Cao Lanh City, has become a cultural destination, a red address to educate the young generation about the tradition of patriotism and the revolutionary ideals of the Party and the nation.

The conference received 116 presentations and direct speeches from scientists and researchers with rich scientific and practical values ​​to further honor the personality and example of a lifetime of service to the country and deep love for the people; research to clarify the enormous influence of Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac on the formation of the personality and revolutionary aspirations of President Ho Chi Minh and his feelings for the land and people of Dong Thap.

Mr. Le Quoc Phong, Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, said that Dong Thap, from a remote locality, is now changing every day, striving to rise up, affirming many positive values ​​in the Mekong Delta region and the whole country. From a little-known locality, Dong Thap has now left its mark in the hearts of friends near and far with the image of the land of pink lotus, "little lotus", red-crowned cranes, guild halls, smart villages, lotus, mango, ornamental flower, and tra fish industry festivals, ranking in the top group of provincial competitiveness index; friendly government... with the spirit of "pure as the soul of lotus", nurturing and cultivating an aspiration for pink lotus to rise strongly from difficulties, affirming its value, contributing and dedicating to life and the country. Those positive values ​​are the result of the process of inheriting and absorbing profound values ​​from the life and career of Mr. Pho Bang Nguyen Sinh Sac, especially the ideology of serving the country, respecting the people, cherishing the people, and serving the people all".

At the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Phuc Lam, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, affirmed: "Throughout his life, Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac set a typical example of a patriotic scholar, deeply loved the people, always concerned with the fate of the country and the people, especially had a great influence on the formation of the personality and the will to save the country and save the people of President Ho Chi Minh".

Ms. Dinh Thi Mai, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, highly appreciated the content of the workshop for its in-depth research, clarification and contribution to spreading the example of the Vice-Chancellor Nguyen Sinh Sac for the country and people. Ms. Mai suggested that the leaders of Dong Thap province continue to preserve, embellish and promote the value of the Nguyen Sinh Sac relic site so that this place will always be a red address for propaganda, education of revolutionary traditions and patriotism for all classes of people; at the same time, it will always be a destination for domestic and foreign tourists to contribute to the comprehensive development of Dong Thap homeland and the Southern region.
