Parents hang banners protesting school merger
On the afternoon of March 27, parents of 457 students of Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School, Trieu Son Town, Trieu Son District (Thanh Hoa) simultaneously let their children stay home from school to protest the merger into Le Van Tam Primary School.
Parents let their children stay home because they think the school merger will force their children to go to school further away, and that going through the provincial road is very dangerous.
“The main task of taking the children to school is for the elderly, and the 2km journey is very dangerous. Nguyen Ba Ngoc School has been with many generations from the past until now, so we want to keep the school,” said a parent.
In addition, parents also gave the reason that Nguyen Ba Ngoc school's facilities are more spacious and there are more students (more than 450 students, Le Van Tam school has more than 200 students).
Mr. Pham Trong Dung, Principal of Nguyen Ba Ngoc Primary School, said that in February 2024, the school received notice of the school merger and plans to merge before the second quarter of 2024.

Parents should not let their children drop out of school like that, it will affect their studies."
