Accordingly, when renovating Ngoc Khanh Lake, many artifacts and ancient weapons were found, which are currently on display at the Vietnam History Museum. In the past, this place was an important location in ancient Thang Long as it was an area for practicing martial arts, teaching military tactics, and performing high-level military exercises of feudal dynasties.

The renovation of the infrastructure of the streets around Ngoc Khanh Lake is also one of the projects in the implementation plan of Program 03 of the Hanoi Party Committee on urban beautification of Ba Dinh district, thereby improving the urban beauty and clean infrastructure to serve the people.
With beautiful scenery, Ba Dinh district has proposed to organize Ngoc Khanh walking street on weekends so that people have a destination to enjoy the fresh air and peace of the street. According to the representative of Ba Dinh District People's Committee, from the beginning of the project, Ba Dinh district also determined to build a street with its own direction, not noisy and bustling like other streets; but wanted to highlight the peace in the middle of a bustling urban area, when outside is Nguyen Chi Thanh street crowded, noisy with car horns.
The walking street around Ngoc Khanh Lake also aims to create a space for community activities, serving people to relax and rest. In the future, when the project to restore Ngoc Khanh Communal House on the road of Pham Huy Thong Street is completed, it will bring more peace to this place.
The project to renovate technical infrastructure, urban beautification, and organize a pedestrian street around Ngoc Khanh Lake opened on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024). To complete the technical renovation, Ba Dinh District paved the road with natural stone pavements and sidewalks to facilitate business services, walking, and entertainment.
At the same time, the district also planted additional trees to ensure a density of 5m/tree, tied tree pots with natural stone, built outdoor plastic or natural stone seats, decorative architectural objects; installed urban equipment such as seats, trash cans, public toilets; installed street lighting; and pedestrian street welcome gates.
