(CLO) On the morning of March 9, at the special national relic Voi Phuc Temple, Ba Dinh District (Hanoi), the Festival to commemorate the death anniversary of Saint Linh Lang Dai Vuong in 2025 took place.
According to the genealogy compiled by the Academician Nguyen Binh in 1572, Duc Thanh Linh Lang Dai Vuong was Prince Hoang Lang, son of King Ly Thanh Tong and his mother was Princess Hao Nuong.
He made a great contribution to defeating the Song invaders who invaded our country at the end of the 11th century. He commanded 50,000 strong troops, along with 121 soldiers from Thi Trai region, destroyed the Song army, beheaded the enemy general Trinh Vinh and 3,000 northern invaders. The victory made the enemy terrified and terrified.

To commemorate the merits of Saint Linh Lang Dai Vuong, the king bestowed the title "Linh Lang Dai Vuong Thuong Dang Phuc Than" and built a temple on Long Thu hill, now Voi Phuc temple, Ngoc Khanh ward, Ba Dinh district to worship him.
The festival commemorating the death anniversary of Saint Linh Lang Dai Vuong in 2025 will be held from the 9th to the 14th of the second lunar month at 5 communal houses and temples that worship the Saint in the Thirteen Camps, including Voi Phuc Temple, Van Phuc Temple, Ngoc Khanh Temple, Kim Ma Thuong Temple in Ba Dinh District and Hao Nam Temple, Hao Nam Ward, Dong Da District.
In the history of the special national relic site of Thang Long Tu Tran, the Voi Phuc Temple festival, including the festival commemorating the death anniversary of Duc Thanh Linh Lang Dai Vuong, is one of the festivals with a large scale compared to the festivals in Hanoi city, and is also the largest in scale compared to the festivals of Tran Dong, Tran Nam and Tran Bac.
According to custom, the festival preparation is very elaborate, such as sacrificial offerings, assigning people to participate in the procession, decorating the streets, and the rituals are carried out carefully and strictly. Besides the ceremony, the festival includes folk games, taking place in the festival grounds along with Quan Ho singing and welcoming music and dance activities.

The festival has the participation of many local people who worship the Saint as well as the motherland Bong Lai, demonstrating the spirit of friendship and solidarity.
According to Vice Chairwoman of Ba Dinh District People's Committee Pham Thi Diem, in 2025, because Voi Phuc Temple is in the process of overall renovation and restoration, and space is limited, the festival was organized on a reduced scale, in the direction of fully performing the rituals but not organizing the procession of the Holy Palanquin and the festival.
The festival reviews the great merits of Saint Linh Lang Dai Vuong, aiming to educate and propagate the cultural values deposited in the relic, while contributing to preserving the national cultural identity; the tradition of patriotism and remembering the source of the nation.
