Helps reduce risks for staff
The workshop aims to continue raising awareness for the staff of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels of the City about the role, significance, purpose and requirements of the work of supervision and inspection on Party building and government building.
Ms. Pham Phuong Thao, former Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and former Chairwoman of the City People's Council, said that Ho Chi Minh City is a locality that is implementing the urban government model, so it is extremely necessary to strengthen the monitoring activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, especially in places where there is no People's Council, in implementing the Party's policies and resolutions and the State's laws and policies.
According to Ms. Thao, the monitoring activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations will help detect shortcomings and make recommendations to improve legal policies as well as prevent violations, helping to minimize risks for officials and civil servants in performing public duties...
Mr. Nguyen Bach Hoang Phung, Vice Chairman of Thu Duc City People's Committee, said that in order to improve the effectiveness of GS&PB, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the City needs to identify the content of supervision with focus and key points, not to implement it widely; the subjects, content, and scope of supervision are specific, originating from the legitimate and legal interests of the people; promote the role of the Advisory Board, Advisory Group and those who are knowledgeable about the fields of social GS&PB to advise and propose during the implementation of supervision activities.
Pay attention to post-monitoring feedback
Lawyer Nguyen Van Hau, Vice Chairman of the City Bar Association, member of the Democracy - Law Council of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City, assessed that the actual activities of the Front in the City show that there are still limitations that need to be overcome to meet the increasing requirements for the role of the Front in society, especially the issue of resolving and responding to issues after supervision.
Therefore, according to Lawyer Nguyen Van Hau, to improve the effectiveness of supervision, the City Front needs to focus on promoting supervision activities of cadres and party members at their place of residence, such as supervising their self-cultivation, moral training, lifestyle; responsibility to set an example and maintaining contact with the party organization and people at their place of residence.
Mr. Hau suggested that it is necessary to strengthen supervision through the activities of the People's Inspectorate and the Community Investment Supervision Board to actively contribute to the prevention and fight against corruption, negativity, and loss of resources in the process of implementing projects and public works in the area...
Also at the workshop, delegates focused on discussing, sharing experiences and solutions to promote the role of Front member organizations in the supervision and inspection activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; solutions to strengthen the leadership of Party committees and support of the government for the supervision and inspection activities of the Front system...
Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thuy, Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the activities of supervision, social criticism, and giving opinions on Party and government building have achieved many positive results. Programs and plans have been implemented synchronously and closely according to the correct procedures, contributing to building clean and strong Party and government organizations at all levels.
However, besides the achievements, this activity still has some limitations such as: the people's supervisory role has not been promoted well, the monitoring and urging of handling of recommendations after supervision is not timely, social criticism activities are mainly concentrated at the City and district levels...
“To overcome these limitations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the city proposes to strengthen propaganda, disseminate relevant documents, innovate public reception work, organize dialogues and direct meetings between Party and government leaders and the people,” Ms. Thuy emphasized.
