At Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC), the listed gold price is 97.8 million VND/tael (buy) and 99.8 million VND/tael (sell). Today's gold price decreased 200,000 VND/tael in buying price and increased 300,000 VND/tael in selling price compared to the end of yesterday's trading session.

DOJI Group listed the gold price at 98.6 million VND/tael (buy) and 100.4 million VND/tael (sell). Today's gold price increased by 600,000 VND/tael for buying and 900,000 VND/tael for selling compared to the end of yesterday's trading session.

Bao Tin Minh Chau gold price is currently buying at 98 million VND/tael and selling at 99.8 million VND/tael. Thus, compared to the previous session, the gold price remains the same for buying and increases by 300,000 VND/tael for selling.

At Mi Hong Jewelry Company, the buying price of SJC gold is 97.3 million VND/tael and the selling price is 99.6 million VND/tael. Thus, compared to the previous session, the gold price decreased by 200,000 VND/tael in both buying and selling directions.

World gold price today March 21, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 4am today, Vietnam time, was 3,040.23 USD/ounce. Today's gold price increased by 0.27% compared to yesterday. Converted according to the USD exchange rate on the free market (25,889 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 94.8 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 5 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Gold paused after record-breaking rally on safe-haven demand. Gold prices fell on Thursday after hitting a record high earlier in the session, but maintained a bullish outlook on the back of the possibility of a rate cut from the U.S. Federal Reserve and continued geopolitical and economic uncertainties.

Spot gold fell 0.4% to $3,036.13 an ounce by 09:47 a.m. ET (1347 GMT) on profit-taking, after hitting a record high of $3,057.21. U.S. gold futures rose 0.1% to $3,044.10.

"Speculators are trying to take advantage of the market and take profits... I think every time gold hits a high, we see a little bit of resistance. Gold hasn't even acted as a safe haven for retail investors yet, because technically we're not in a recession, but we're seeing a slowdown in the economy and that could create more uncertainty and greater demand for safe havens," said Alex Ebkarian, chief executive officer at Allegiance Gold.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Trump's early policies, including sweeping import tariffs, may have slowed U.S. economic growth and increased inflation. Trump, meanwhile, criticized the Fed's decision to leave interest rates unchanged despite forecasting two 0.25% rate cuts by the end of the year due to weak economic growth and high inflation.

Traders are pricing in 69 basis points of rate cuts from the Fed this year, at least two 0.25% cuts each, with a cut in July already fully priced in, according to LSEG data.

“In our bullish scenario, we see gold prices reaching $3,500/oz by year-end, supported by much higher investment/safety demand due to concerns about the possibility of a US recession/slow growth,” analysts at Citi said in a report.

Elsewhere, at least 70 Palestinians were killed and dozens more wounded in Israeli air strikes in Gaza on Thursday after Israel resumed its bombing campaign and ground operations in the enclave, a Gaza health official said.

Gold is seen as a hedge against uncertainty and tends to perform well in a low-interest-rate environment. Spot gold fell 1.2% to $33.38 an ounce, while platinum fell 0.8% to $985.05. Palladium fell 1.4% to $946.74.

Citi Research raised its gold price target for the next three months to $3,200 an ounce from $3,000, citing strong demand from the government sector and high demand from exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
