Specifically, the current price of regular rice fluctuates at 6,800-7,100 VND/kg; the price of sticky, fragrant rice fluctuates at 7,800-8,000 VND/kg, an increase of 400-700 VND/kg compared to the previous month and an increase of 400-1,600 VND/kg compared to the same period last year.
In about 2 weeks, the rice growing area in Thanh Son commune, Dinh Quan district will start harvesting summer-autumn rice in 2023. |
In the export market, after the announcement of ban on rice export by India, Russia, UAE, rice price in the world market has continuously increased. Currently, many markets such as China, Philippines, Indonesia are competing to buy Vietnamese rice, contributing to the increase in rice export price.
In Dong Nai alone, it will take about 2-4 weeks for farmers to start harvesting the summer-autumn rice crop in 2023. In some localities such as Tan Phu and Dinh Quan districts, farmers have harvested rice early to avoid floods. This summer-autumn crop, Dong Nai planted more than 19,000 hectares. According to rice farmers in the province, this year's harvest, rice yield decreased sharply compared to previous years due to the adverse effects of the weather, especially during the recent floods, many rice growing areas in Tan Phu and Dinh Quan districts were severely damaged with hundreds of hectares of rice submerged by floods.
It is forecasted that rice prices may continue to increase in the coming time. Accordingly, on August 3, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued a document to localities on stabilizing the rice market; requiring rice exporting enterprises to have a plan for goods sources, maintain stable reserves of rice and paddy to be ready to supply when necessary. In case of supply shortage, measures will be taken to control rice exports. This is also to ensure rice supply to the market from now until the end of 2023, the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024 at stable prices.
