On the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023), on June 17, at Ho Chi Minh City Book Street, the Vietnam Journalists Association in coordination with the Vietnam Publishing Association, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information and Communications, Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association and Thanh Nien Newspaper organized the opening ceremony of "Book Week for Journalists", taking place from now until June 22.
When coming to Ho Chi Minh City Book Street during the above time, readers will have the opportunity to view and enjoy 281 book titles (291 books), including 55 works of 7 press agencies, 226 works (236 books) of 105 reporters, 15 groups of authors who have worked and are working at newspapers across the country such as: Saigon Giai Phong, Nhan Dan, Quan Doi Nhan Dan, Phu Nu Ho Chi Minh City, Cong An Nhan Dan, Cong An Ho Chi Minh City, Tuoi Tre, Thanh Nien, Radio Voice of Ho Chi Minh City People, Tien Phong...

Through the exhibition and introduction of books by press agencies and journalists, the event hopes to develop a reading movement among journalists, bringing readers pages of writing that are full of life. At the same time, it creates a place for journalists to meet, share about work, life and experiences when writing books.

In addition, within the framework of the week, the Organizing Committee (OC) also coordinated with publishing units to organize 4 discussion forums with 11 journalists, including many works that have won high awards from the city and central government, and many works written for children.

At the opening ceremony, the Organizing Committee awarded commemorative medals to journalists whose books won high awards and presented the logo of the displayed books to the Vietnam Press Museum and the Faculty of Journalism, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City.

At the end of the week, the books displayed in the program (except for the books kept at the request of the authors) will be donated by the Organizing Committee to the Vietnam Press Museum (Hanoi) and the Faculty of Journalism, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City to serve the reading and research needs of students, lecturers and the public.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, journalist Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association - Head of the Organizing Committee, said that "Book Week for Journalists" is an activity to honor journalists associated with the development of reading culture, introducing works created by reporters and press agencies across the country.

“In the first year of organization, due to limited time, the program has not yet gathered all the creative works of the press team. In the following years, we will continue to implement and plan from the beginning of the year to organize more diverse activities, introduce more books to the public annually and organize both the North and the South,” said journalist Tran Trong Dung.
