Nearly 15,000 businesses 'quit the game' every month

According to the General Statistics Office, in October, the country had more than 15,400 newly established enterprises, an increase of 21.7% over the previous month and an increase of 18.5% over the same period last year.

Businesses returning to operation and new establishment increasing is a good sign for the economy.

In addition, nationwide, 5,600 enterprises returned to operation, more than 5,500 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend business for a period of time, nearly 4,900 enterprises stopped operating pending dissolution procedures, and more than 1,500 enterprises completed dissolution procedures.

In the first 10 months of this year, the whole country had about 183,600 newly registered and resuming businesses, an increase of 2.9% over the same period last year; on average, there were nearly 18,400 newly established and resuming businesses per month.

Meanwhile, the number of businesses withdrawing from the market was about 146,600, an increase of 20% over the same period last year; in the past 10 months, on average 14,700 businesses withdrew from the market per month.

Investment capital from the state budget and foreign capital both increased.

Regarding investment capital implemented from the state budget in October, it is estimated to reach 65,700 billion VND, an increase of 20.7% over the same period last year. In the first 10 months of 2023, investment capital implemented from the state budget is estimated to reach more than 479,000 billion VND, equal to 65.8% of the annual plan and an increase of 22.6% over the same period last year (the same period in 2022 was equal to 65.1% and an increase of 21.1%).

Investment capital from the state budget and foreign capital both increased.

Total foreign investment capital registered in Vietnam as of October 20, including newly registered capital, adjusted registered capital, and capital contribution and share purchase value of foreign investors, reached nearly 25.76 billion USD, up 14.7% over the same period last year.

Foreign direct investment realized in Vietnam in the first 10 months of this year is estimated at 18 billion USD, up 2.4% over the same period last year.

Vietnam's overseas investment in the first 10 months of 2023 included 95 projects newly granted investment certificates with a total capital of more than 251 million USD from the Vietnamese side, down 36.6% over the same period last year; there were 19 projects with capital adjustment with an increase of 173 million USD, nearly 2.8 times.

In total, Vietnam's total investment capital abroad in the first 10 months of this year (newly granted and adjusted capital) reached 424.4 million USD, down 6.1% over the same period last year.

According to the General Statistics Office, the total state budget revenue in October is estimated at nearly 170,000 billion VND. The total state budget revenue in the first 10 months of 2023 is estimated at nearly 1.4 million billion VND, equal to 86.3% of the annual estimate and down 9.2% over the same period last year.

Total state budget expenditure in October is estimated at VND 118,000 billion; in the first 10 months of 2023, it reached nearly VND 1,358 trillion, equal to 65.4% of the annual estimate and an increase of 11.4% over the same period last year.
