The G7 did not mention whether Russia had received missiles from Iran, but it was reported that Iran was considering the transfer of missiles. "We are extremely concerned by reports that Iran is considering the transfer of ballistic missiles and related technology," the G7 said.

"We urge Iran not to do so as this would further destabilize the region and would represent a significant escalation of its support for Russia's involvement in the fighting in Ukraine," the G7 statement said.

The G7 statement comes as the European Union is also considering measures against Iran for arming Russia. The G7 group includes the US, Japan, Italy, Germany, the UK, France and Canada.
