(Dan Tri) - While setting up trees to welcome the Lunar New Year 2025, many people in Phu Bai ward, Huong Thuy town, Hue city were electrocuted and left lying on the sidewalk.
On the evening of January 22, Mr. Phan Huu Son, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Bai Ward, Huong Thuy Town, Hue City, said that many local people were electrocuted while erecting a pole in front of their house.
According to Mr. Son, the incident happened in the afternoon of the same day in front of a resident’s house on Nguyen Viet Phong Street. After the incident, the victims were taken to a medical facility for examination.

The leaders of Hue Central Hospital said that the unit received and treated 5 patients including PTT (born in 1976), D.M. (born in 1972), TTS (born in 1953), LVS (born in 1952) and HTM (born in 1975), all residing in Phu Bai ward, Huong Thuy town.
All 5 patients had burns ranging from 2-25%, the most serious of which was Ms. PTT, who suffered burns to her entire back, thighs and buttocks, and is being monitored.
On the afternoon of January 22, social media users in Hue shared a clip recording the scene of many people lying and screaming on the sidewalk in Phu Bai ward, with the content "setting up a pole before Tet was electrocuted, many people lying around".
According to the clip, there are 5 people, including 2 women and 3 men, lying next to a pole erected in front of a 2-story house on Nguyen Viet Phong Street, next to a fishbone electric pole and a high-voltage electric pole. At the top of the pole are many tangled electric wires.
In the clip, a man tries to use a wooden stick to turn off the switch on the electric pole, then runs towards the 5 victims to check on the situation. Some people standing nearby also run to help.
