Beaten and hung from a tree on suspicion of casting spells that caused someone else's death

(NLDO) - The police are investigating and clarifying the case of a couple who were gang-attacked because they were suspected of casting a spell to cause someone's death.

On March 7, social media was abuzz with images of a man and a woman with many injuries. According to a user with a Facebook account named "Vang Venh", the incident happened at the end of February 2025 in Na Co Sa commune, Nam Po district, Dien Bien province. His parents were arrested and assaulted by many people in the same commune in many ways, such as being tied up, hung from a rafters, hung from a tree, having a hot knife placed on their face... causing many injuries.

The reason his parents were assaulted was because some people suspected that his parents had cast a spell that caused a man's wife to die from an illness. After the incident, the victim's family sent a petition to the Na Co Sa commune authorities, but the case has not yet been resolved.

It is known that after the article was uploaded, it was shared on many groups, causing outrage in the community.

According to information from Nam Po district authorities, the two victims of the assault were Mr. VAS (born in 1971) and his wife, Mrs. PTP (born in 1976), both residing in Na Co Sa 3 village, Na Co Sa commune, Nam Po district.

After the incident, the authorities summoned the people involved to work.

Currently, the case is being further investigated and clarified by the authorities.
