Pepper price today March 22, 2025 in the domestic market adjusted down in some key localities, trading from 159,000 - 160,500 VND/kg.
Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 159,000 VND/kg.
Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (159,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (160,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (160,500 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (159,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (159,000 VND/kg).
Thus, today's pepper price is stable in Dak Lak and Dak Nong while slightly decreasing by 500 VND/kg in the remaining key growing areas. The highest pepper price is at 160,500 VND/kg.
According to the Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC), weather conditions are quite favorable in the main pepper harvesting areas across the country. Up to now, Dak Nong and Lam Dong have harvested about 50% of the area, Gia Lai reached 40% and Dak Lak is 20%, in other localities in the Southeast region such as Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc and Ba Ria Vung Tau, about 30% has been harvested.
This year, farmers harvested later than usual. As pepper prices rose, many farmers let their pepper ripen longer to increase the weight and value of the product before selling.
Currently, domestic pepper prices are at an 8-year high. This week, the International Pepper Community increased Vietnam's pepper export prices by 100 USD/ton.
In the first 15 days of March 2025, Vietnam exported 7,139 tons of pepper, with total export turnover reaching 49.1 million USD.
The US, India and Germany were the three largest export markets of Vietnam in the first half of March, reaching 1,268 tons, 649 tons and 638 tons respectively. The amount of pepper exported did not change significantly compared to previous months, although the new crop had reached the market. China has not shown any signs of increasing its purchase of pepper from Vietnam.
At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,267 USD/ton, down 0.12%; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 7,000 USD/ton; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 9,900 USD/ton, up 1.01%.
Muntok white pepper price is 10,207 USD/ton, down 0.12%; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 12,400 USD/ton, up 0.81%.
Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 7,100 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 7,300 USD/ton; white pepper price at 10,100 USD/ton.
The International Pepper Community reduced pepper prices in Indonesia and increased in Malaysia. In summary of the week, IPC commented that the pepper market this week continued to show mixed reactions, with only Chinese white pepper showing a downward trend.
Experts say that with signs of recovery from the international market and stable domestic supply, pepper prices on March 22, 2025 may increase slightly by another 50-100 USD/ton in some markets such as Vietnam and Indonesia, especially if export volumes do not increase dramatically. However, pepper prices are currently approaching technical resistance levels, so a slight downward adjustment is still possible if exports encounter obstacles.
In the medium term, the outlook for the pepper market in 2025 remains positive, thanks to the increasing import demand from China, which promises to support pepper prices in the coming time. Farmers and businesses need to closely monitor developments to take advantage of opportunities.
