From today (June 1), airports across the country will simultaneously pilot accepting passengers to use level 2 electronic identification accounts instead of citizen identification cards.
Speaking with Nguoi Dua Tin , Mr. Dinh Viet Thang - Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that on the morning of June 1, the use of electronic identification accounts at airport authorities was smooth, the reception system was favorable, and currently there were no recorded incidents or problems.
The Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also said that the Authority will continue to closely monitor the pilot to promptly find solutions if any problems arise.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the pilot will initially last for 2 months (from June 1 to August 1, 2023), applicable to domestic flights.
Accordingly, accepting the use of level 2 electronic identification accounts at the check-in counter and when boarding the plane.
Specifically, passengers open their own level 2 electronic identification accounts. Aviation staff compare the passenger's photo on the level 2 electronic identification account with the real person and compare the passenger's information on the flight with the information on the level 2 electronic identification account.
At the aviation security checkpoint (location for checking flight documents), accept the level 2 electronic identification account when passengers check in for flights in 2 steps: Require passengers to open their own level 2 electronic identification account; Compare the passenger's photo on the level 2 electronic identification account with the real person and compare the passenger information of the flight with the information on the level 2 electronic identification account.
The pilot will last for 2 months (from June 1 to August 1, 2023), applicable to domestic flights.
The pilot is only conducted with voluntary passengers. The airline staff participating in the pilot voluntarily use their phones and electronic identification accounts for the pilot. In particular, the airline staff participating in the pilot commit to not using passenger information for illegal purposes.
At the same time, at the airline check-in counter, the aviation security check line, and the pilot boarding point, there must be a sign announcing the acceptance of level 2 electronic identification accounts when passengers check in for flights.
Relevant units in the aviation industry are also required to train, motivate and send experienced and highly skilled staff to participate in the pilot.
At the end of the pilot, the agencies need to report statistical results, assess risks and difficulties, and propose a plan to accept level 2 electronic identification accounts of passengers in the coming time .
