Dong Giang reduces poverty rate by more than 6%/year

(QNO) - Chairman of Dong Giang District People's Committee - Mr. A Vo To Phuong said that poverty reduction is a political task that the local Party Committee and government pay top attention to; thanks to that, the poverty rate in 2021 and 2022 decreased by an average of more than 6%/year.

By the end of 2022, the poverty rate in Dong Giang will be 45.4% according to the multidimensional poverty standard. Social security policies have been implemented with attention and achieved many results. The material and spiritual life of the people has been significantly improved. Per capita income has been increasingly improved, reaching 35 million VND in 2022.

According to Mr. Dinh Ngoc Thanh - Head of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Dong Giang district, on July 13, 2022, Dong Giang District Party Committee issued Resolution No. 22 on focusing on leading sustainable reduction work in the area for the period 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030.

The goal is that by the end of 2025, the poverty rate in the district will decrease to below 25%, equivalent to a decrease of 1,900 poor households (an average decrease of more than 6%/year). By 2030, the poverty rate will decrease to below 5%, equivalent to a decrease of 324 poor households (an average decrease of more than 4%/year).

To achieve the above goals, Dong Giang has set out key tasks and solutions for implementation. The focus is on strengthening leadership and direction; improving management and operational capacity; coordinating the Front and mass organizations; and promoting propaganda to implement the goal of sustainable poverty reduction.
