(NLĐO) - The Kim Bong - Hoi An Traditional Craft Village Festival continues until today (February 9th) with many unique and attractive activities.

On the evening of February 8th, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Kim Bong Traditional Craft Village Festival took place at the Kim Bong Craft Village Center (Cam Kim commune, Hoi An city, Quang Nam province).

This is an annual event held every January, with many attractive activities for locals and tourists to experience. On the evening of February 8th, hundreds of locals and tourists flocked to Kim Bong carpentry village to participate in the festival.

The opening ceremony included the "wood-cutting" ritual, along with traditional art performances, the Bài Chòi folk game, and the ceremony to receive the Certificate of Recognition for the traditional craft of Kim Bồng and Cẩm Kim sedge mat weaving in Quảng Nam province.

According to Mr. Huynh Ngoc Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cam Kim commune, the Kim Bong Traditional Craft Village Festival is not only an opportunity to preserve and promote the traditional values ​​of Kim Bong carpentry village, but the program also helps to awaken the potential to gradually build Cam Kim into an ecological village and craft village, attracting tourists to improve the spiritual and material lives of the people.

"Today, Cam Kim is honored to receive the certificate recognizing Kim Bong sedge mat weaving as a local traditional craft. This is also one of the opportunities to develop tourism in the craft village," Mr. Hung expressed his expectations.

Ms. Minh Hanh, a tourist from Da Nang, said that she was very impressed with her first time attending the festival. The traditional activities at the event were rich in folk elements, and the cuisine was also very diverse and abundant.

According to the program, on the morning of February 9th, the Kim Bong Ancestor Worship Ceremony will take place - a beautiful traditional cultural event to express gratitude for the merits of our ancestors, those who pioneered and established the village, and to pray for a new year of favorable weather, prosperity, and abundance.

Also on this occasion, Hoi An city will organize the first boat race of the year on the Thu Bon River, in the embankment area of ​​Dong Ha village, Cam Kim commune, at 1 PM on February 9th, with the participation of racing teams from communes and wards in the city.

Notably, at this festival, the reenactment of Kim Bong Rural Market will be introduced to the public for the first time and will be held regularly every month, promising to bring a new tourism product, attract tourists and promote clean agricultural products from Cam Kim to the Hoi An market and surrounding areas.

What makes Kim Bong Village Market special is that it only uses environmentally friendly packaging and materials, creating a traditional market atmosphere and offering a visit and exploration experience of Kim Bong village in a green and sustainable way.

In addition, various activities are organized throughout the year, such as exhibitions and demonstrations of traditional crafts like wood carving, bamboo carving, boat building, mat making, basket weaving, and noodle making; demonstrations of traditional fishing nets, traps, and casting nets, as well as experiential swimming; folk games; and a culinary space featuring delicious Kim Bong dishes.

To attract locals and tourists to this year's festival, the Organizing Committee offered free admission to Kim Bong carpentry village and free boat rides on the river on February 8th and 9th.
