Businesses in the beer, tobacco, lottery, automobile, banking, luxury real estate industries… are still standing strong and have made large budget contributions in the past “sad economic” year.

Satra, Heineken , Saigon Tobacco , and Ho Chi Minh City Lottery are the top businesses.

Among the 89 collectives receiving certificates of merit from the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in directing, managing and paying state budget in Ho Chi Minh City in 2024, there are 59 enterprises.

According to the announcement of Ho Chi Minh City, of these 59 enterprises, 33 enterprises paid taxes of over 1,000 billion VND, 26 enterprises paid the budget from 500 to less than 1,000 billion VND.

Topping the list is Saigon Trading Group (Satra). With a portfolio of 6 subsidiaries and 34 joint ventures and associates, Satra regularly receives thousands of billions of dong in dividends and profits each year from these member companies and related companies.

The largest contribution is the number of shares and profits shared annually in two joint ventures with Heineken beer company in the Vietnamese market.

Notably, Heineken Vietnam Brewery Company Limited ranked second in the "trillion club" and was recently awarded by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for its achievements in paying the budget at the end of yesterday, December 31.

Satra currently owns 40% of the capital of Heineken Vietnam Brewery Company Limited and this investment has brought in billions of USD in profits after more than 6 years of investment.

The next two positions belong to Saigon Tobacco One Member Co., Ltd. and Ho Chi Minh City Lottery One Member Co., Ltd.

Appearing in this list at number 6 is Saigon Beer - Alcohol - Beverage Corporation, while VINA-BAT Joint Venture Company Limited ranked 13th in the list of 33 enterprises in the "trillion-dollar tax paying club".

Super luxury real estate is still "healthy"

Notably, joining the "big guys" on this list is a real estate company, Quoc Loc Phat Joint Stock Company, the investor of the super luxury project The Metropole Thu Thiem. This project is located in the new urban area of ​​Thu Thiem with an area of ​​about 7.6 hectares, with a total estimated investment of 7,300 billion VND.

The list of businesses paying over 1,000 billion VND in taxes in 2024 also includes the names of many large automobile companies, such as Mercedes-Benz Vietnam Co., Ltd. and SAIC Motor Vietnam Co., Ltd.

In addition, there is a "big guy" in the consumer goods industry, Unilever Vietnam International Co., Ltd. Three companies in the energy industry are also present, namely Phuc Lam Fuel Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Gas Corporation - Joint Stock Company and Vietnam Oil Corporation - Joint Stock Company.

Notably, this list includes 8 domestic and international banks such as: Nam A, ACB, HDBank, Sacombank, VIB, OCB, HSBC Vietnam, Shinhan Vietnam.

Besides, SSI Securities Company and Prudential Vietnam Life Insurance also appeared on this list.

In the list of enterprises with budget contributions from 500 billion VND to under 1,000 billion VND and received a bonus of 30 million VND from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, there are many familiar names: Grab Company Limited, Suntory Pepsico Vietnam Beverage Company Limited, Coca-Cola Vietnam, Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk), Masan, Toshiba Vietnam, SAMCO...

In addition to the above enterprises, the club of paying taxes from 500 billion VND to under 1,000 billion VND also includes the luxury car distributor, Supreme Car Company Limited. This is the official distributor of Porsche in Vietnam.

SPX Express Co., Ltd. is the only express delivery company on this list. The other company on the list is Heineken Vietnam Beer and Beverage Co., Ltd.

Meanwhile, in the real estate sector, there is the participation of Phu My Hung Development Company Limited and MV1 Vietnam Real Estate Trading Company Limited.

MV1 is a company established by Vingroup Corporation (HoSE: VIC) in 2020 to transfer part of the Vinhomes Grand Park project to a Japanese partner.

Notably, three insurance companies were awarded 30 million VND by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for having paid the budget from 500 billion VND to less than 1,000 billion VND: Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company Limited Vietnam, AIA Life Insurance Company Limited Vietnam, Manulife Company Limited Vietnam.

By December 31, Ho Chi Minh City's budget revenue in 2024 is approaching VND510,000 billion.

Compared to the 2024 state budget revenue estimate assigned by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council of VND 482,851.1 billion, Ho Chi Minh City has far exceeded the plan.
