At around 8am on March 18, a man living on Phan Anh Street (Ward 14, District 6, Ho Chi Minh City) was taking his trash to the canal in front of his house and found a striped shirt floating in the canal mixed with the trash. The man took out a trash can to check and was shocked to discover that it was the body of a woman, so he shouted for help.

Ward 14 police coordinated with District 6 Local Team and Ho Chi Minh City Police to block off the scene to assist in the investigation. The female victim was about 40 years old, her body was in the process of decomposition. The victim had no identification papers on her body so her identity has not been determined.

Many people said that they had discovered the incident a few days earlier but thought it was just a discarded shirt so they paid no attention until this morning when they discovered the body. By noon of the same day, the victim's body was removed from the scene and an autopsy was conducted to clarify the cause of death.
Ward 14 Police, District 6 issued a notice to find relatives of the victim with the above characteristics.
