National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife are visiting Singapore. On December 2, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held talks with Singaporean Parliament Speaker Seah Kian Peng.
Singaporean Parliament Speaker Seah Kian Peng said that after more than 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations and 10 years of establishing a strategic partnership, the Vietnam-Singapore relationship has continuously developed and reached many milestones.
The two countries share strategic visions, have close ties between their leaders, strong trade and investment links, and close people-to-people ties.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man congratulated Singapore on its strong development achievements, believing that Singapore will gain more achievements in building a country that is "dynamic and integrated, fair and competitive, resilient and united".
Vietnam always considers Singapore as a leading important partner in the region, sharing interests and common strategic vision.
In a sincere and open atmosphere, the two sides had in-depth discussions on major orientations and measures to strengthen cooperation and elevate relations in the coming time.
The two leaders agreed that political and diplomatic cooperation continues to play a core role in guiding the overall relationship between the two countries. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his gratitude and asked Singapore to continue supporting Vietnam in training and fostering strategic-level officials, including those who are being planned to become members of the 14th Central Committee.
Economic and trade cooperation is an important pillar in bilateral relations. The two leaders agreed to create a favorable legal corridor and step up the supervision of ministries, branches, localities and enterprises in implementing signed agreements, especially in new growth areas such as green economy, digital economy, clean energy, cyber security, innovation, etc.
The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure development and transport connectivity, tourism and people-to-people exchange.
Regarding security and defense cooperation, the two sides assessed this as an important field with much room for promotion, such as further promoting dialogue mechanisms, exchanges between sea, land, and air forces, cooperation in cyber security, search and rescue, military medicine, promoting maritime connectivity, protecting the environment and marine ecology through the application of new technology.
To promote substantive cooperation between the two National Assemblies, the two leaders agreed to continue to effectively implement the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies, contributing to further developing the Vietnam-Singapore Strategic Partnership and soon raising it to a new level. Strengthening information exchange and sharing each country's experiences in perfecting institutions, policies, and legal systems, ensuring macroeconomic stability, expanding foreign relations, and improving the effectiveness of international integration; implementing cooperation between the National Assembly's Committees and agencies, between parliamentarians of the two countries, including young parliamentarians and female parliamentarians...
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the Singaporean Parliament pay attention and have policies to create favorable conditions for businesses, investors and Vietnamese people in Singapore to live, work and study conveniently.
Discussing international and regional issues, the two leaders agreed to continue to strengthen cooperation, coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, including international and regional inter-parliamentary forums...
Regarding regional issues, the two sides shared similar views on building and maintaining a peaceful and stable environment for development in the Asia-Pacific region; agreed on the need to maintain and ensure maritime and aviation security and safety in the East Sea, and peacefully resolve disputes on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.
